NOTE: [b]This post is just the humble submission of a Nigerian seeking answers.

A lot has been said about the so called National Conference as declared by President Jonathan. Different individuals, groups and sects have praised it, criticized it or are indifferent about it. Whether you call it National Conference, National Discourse, Sovereign National Conference, National Dialogue, National Chop-Chop or National Talk, one thing to me is very certain; we need to come together and charter a way for this country- a way that will make everybody, irrespective of ethnic group, tribe, religion, status and age feel like a Nigerian. Let me highlight some points (just 5), that I feel makes it important for us to discuss this 'amalgamation'

1. In the last national census conducted in 2006, it was stated that the two most populous states in Nigeria are Kano and Lagos. Kano, with a population of 9.6million has 44 local government areas; so how come Lagos, with a population of 9.1million has just 20 local government areas?

2. In all federal common entrance examinations, states from the south always have far higher cut off marks than states from the north. This year's own was very ridiculous; while south east and south south states had cut off marks in the range of 125 to 135, states in the north east had cut off marks as low as 5, 7 and 9! I thought it was a federal entrance for 'unity schools'

3. How come a southerner has never been the minister of the federal capital territory?

4. How come the southeastern region (second in economic and commercial activities after Lagos) has just 5 states, while the northwest has 7 states?

5. At first, the northern caucus, led by the so called servant governor- Babangida Aliyu- was against the national conference, but as soon as GEJ pronounced that the communique from the conference will be sent to the NASS for discussions, the northern caucus supported the conference.

It is obvious that a certain section of this country, its people and their cronies have seen the handwriting on the wall, but they should know injustice doesn't reign forever. We are not against a united country- just make everybody feel 'LIKE A NIGERIAN'
