The Pastoral Council of Nnobi Episcopal Region, Umuoji, Idemili Local Government Area yesterday prayed for the victory of the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate, Sen. Chris Ngige in the November 16, 2013 governorship election.

The Pastoral Council which rose from its meeting at Holy Family Catholic Church, Umuoji prayed that God intervene, and enable him to emerge triumphant in the elections. They urged him to be steadfast reminding the governorship candidate that a similar prayer was said for him during his senatorial election in which he emerged successful.

In his remarks, the Episcopal Vicar of the Region, Rev. Fr. John Anosike described Sen. Ngige as a known lover of Anambra State, whose public service records are indelible in the minds of the people.

Also speaking at the occasion, Rev. Fr. Mike Okagbue chided desperate politicians who resort to maligning others in their quest for power. He affirmed his support for Ngige to return as governor adding that Ngige is a tested and proven ambassador not only of Anambra, but of humanity in general, and he is an experienced and noble gentleman.

The clerics further urged him to remember his promises to the people when he is returned to office.

Earlier in his remarks, Sen. Ngige reminded the clerics that he will sustain and improve upon the current intervention by the State Government in the health and educational institutions owned by the churches reminding them that he initiated the policy while in office.

According to him, he signed an Memorandum of Understanding with late Bishop AK Obiefuna, retired Bishop Simeon Okafor and Bishop Hilary Okeke for such interventions.

The governorship candidate further promised that he will ensure that Anambra has no problems accessing federal roads as he does not discriminate in road construction since the people of the state uses the roads.

Ngige also promised to remodel the capital city of Awka to reflect its flagship status and to conduct local government area elections within six months after being elected to office.

Worthy to note that a sizeable number of Anambra citizens are of the Catholic Christian faith.
You read of NGIGE meeting and having dialogues with relevant bodies everyday & not just holding hands in a market for the cameras.

I wonder how the APGA e-supporters have failed to see they are paddling a boat full of holes across the Nile.
