I would advise that he should first of all accept that whatever drugs he is taking is harmful to his health and be determined to leave it.
Secondly, when a man is addiicted,it takes the grace of God to overcome it.
After being determined to stop, he should throw away all the drugs in his possession,stay away from his friends who use it,avoid places he could buy it from as much as possible and finally,he should pray to God to help him stop.

He should accept that he is in error for taking the stuffs
and be determined to stop it no matter the cost.
He should take it to God in prayer for grace and enablement to put and end to it.
Again, he should dissociate himself from friends that lure him into the stuff...

It going to be a gradual process cos if he relies on his strength, the arm of flesh will fail him.

Seems the OP likes the dude . Anyway, addiction takes time to build and at the same time, to reverse the trend, it has to be a gradual process. Change is the only constant thing in life. Show him pictures of those who were addicts and eventually turned a new leaf. Make him believe he can change and it is possible for him to attain that change if he is willing and strong-willed to do so.

I was at the mall one time when this slovenly and unkempt man approached me and asked me for something.... Usually I don't rspond to such people but something about this guys poise and carriage and his impeccable english made me listen to him, I asked him what he wanted to do with the money, he said he wanted to eat and drink beer

His forthrightness appalled and touched me and also opened a flood gate... I found us seats and we began to talk from the convo I found out that the dude was a masters degree holder, he schooled in Switzerland, and lived in Germany, Sweden, UK, and also worked. In sevetal countries around the world, I found out tgat this dude was a highly talented techie, when he began to talk about his certifications and work experience I felt incrdibly dwarfed.... But why beg


He started to cry, he told me he has a great substance abuse problem.... That was the reason he got booted from Europe.. He can't keep a job, relationship, any responsibility!!! And worst of all he did not have the strenght to try be clean again after several relapses...


I gave him the address of an org that can help him, i bought lunch and we both ate,


I came out of the encounter thoroughly shaken... Such a great asset about to be lost, he was just 30(in his words, I suspect he isn't even up to that, and he also comes from an affluent hom)

Sorry to burst your bubble dear. People who take cocaine and heroine and stuffs like that hardly ever get out completely. Sometimes,they go into rehab,over and over again. It's only the grace of God that can save your friend. Majek fashek has been rehabilitated several times but we all know what his condition is now. Like someone has said,he needs to withdraw completely slowly,my reducing his daily consumption. If he's serious about changing,he has to delete the contacts of all his friends who are/who know people doing drugs. Secondly,he needs to change location and stay far away from people who could lure him back. Thirdy,he needs to deactivate/delete his accounts on social media,and focus on doing more productive things. Let him engage himself in more work. He also needs to accept christ in his life. Without that,all others won't work. In doing all of these,the determination to change totally has to come from him and not you. All you have to do is supervise and monitor him. In deactivating his account,he needs to do it with his hands. Same goes for throwing away the leftovers of his crack and stuffs. It's never going to be easy but with God on his side,he will get out of it.

A word of advice to others: never get yourself involved with junkies if your purpose is not to help them out of it. Socialising with them might just lure you in. Evil communication corrupts good manners. I personally don't allow anybody with any criminal tendency/social vice anywhere near me as a friend. Once I find out,I start withdrawing tactically. A word is enough for the wise.
