This is saddening
Re: ASUU Postpones Meeting Over Iyayi's Death by Nobody: 4:49pm On Nov 13, 2013
If this happens to be true, then it all goes to buttress the point I have always made that ASUU as a body and as individuals do not in any way have the smallest regard for Nigerian students.
So what happens then to the tens And hundreds of students who lost their lives during this striking period? I'll always say it that an average Nigerian lecturer sees an average Nigerian student like an animal. I weep for Nigerian students.

this is a message I just got

Rumour, trash it!!! The strike will be over soon

The rumour going viral on social media that ASUU had postponed her NEC meeting to Jan. 15, 2014 due to Prof.(Comrade) Festus Iyayi death is a lie! please disregard it as such information didn't emanate from ASUU at all. Probably, from the myopic figment of imagination of some questionable characters, who are determined to destroy the image of the body. It is highly unfortunate that personality like Dele Momodu will be part of those spreading this scandalous information on his twitter account without verifying it. ASUU has not mention anything like Jan 15 except postponing the NEC meeting from today.

IYA NGBALI: the strike should not be called off until the man is buried in the 3rd quarter of next year, this would be a sign of respect to the man and his family, but if they decide to call it off,i would not go back to school until the man is buried.

I'm sorry to say. .. but you are complete ode and futuristic mumu... it's people like you that prevents the country for moving foward..
because of the death of one man, the whole education sector should stand still.
so selfish. . dont go to school na, shebi na ur papa dey pay school fees

So what are they going to do about people that travelled all the way from Calabar, Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Ado Ekiti.........to Kano? maybe they postpone till later in the week because I don't think it will be reasonable for them to postpone the meeting indefinitely.....people die everyday, so many Nigerian students died under circumstances that would not have happened if the schools are opened. And who says somebody related to the struggle will not die tomorrow or next tomorrow? The prayer is that God should preserve their lives but they need to be realistic.

Agreed a day or two will not be too much to honour the dead but indefinite suspension of the process of the call of the strike will not be fair on the living. It is unfortunate that we lost a gem like Professor Iyayi, he never lived to reap the fruits of his struggle. May heavens console his family in this time of their grieve.

Re: ASUU Postpones Meeting Over Iyayi's Death by princesa(f): 9:41pm On Nov 13, 2013
I guess now it is confirmed. But indefinitely is a wrong word to use, a day or two is enough to mourn him, it wasn't the students that killed him for jeez sake!

But at the same time, i can't trust all this bunch of mofo journalists, they might just be blowing the whole thing out of proportion like they normally do! Putting words into mouths that never say it. I guess the era of yellow journalism is again at its peak in the Nigeria media.

I just wish they would take a hike to hell for once, them and their fake, unconfirmed, over-blown and sentimental reports! Idiotas!angry

Nigerian governors' and government officials' convoys have been noted for speed-killing driving within and outside cities.Govt must caution the escorts while high-speed driving must be avoided. ASUU would have employed a new technology called TELEPRESENCE SYSTEM rather than travels. God knows the best because death is a price we must all pay. Prof.Iyayi, rest well.
