We’ll Take-over Lagos; Reclaim South West From APC –tukur by oluwashaddow(m): 7:17am On Nov 17, 2013
National chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga
Tukur has said that the party is gearing
up to retake Lagos state, and reclaim the
south west region of the country from
the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He also stated that the PDP and President
Goodluck Jonathan will give their
support for the upcoming PDP zonal
congresses in the region to prepare them
ahead of coming elections, especially the
governorship election for Ekiti and Osun
states next year.
Tukur spoke in Lagos at a reception
dinner organized for him by the
Foundation for World Peace (FWP) and
the South West PDP to celebrate the
recent award conferred on him by the
Congressional Black Caucus of the United
States as ‘African Man of the Year 2013’.
The PDP helmsman while calling on PDP
members to get prepared to take over
Lagos state and the south west, said, “The
picture in my mind is for them to get
prepared to take over government so
that they will stop swimming in the lake
when there is a sea to swim”.
He also said, “Our party is united in the
south west. I am particularly interested
in the affairs of Lagos”.
According to him, the party will continue
to put people from the south west region
of the country in positions of power to
reflect their contributions to the party
and the country. On the crisis bedeviling
the party, Alhaji Tukur stated that it is a
blessing in disguise, adding, that it will
soon be a thing of the past, and that it
has been blown out of proportion by the
media. “PDP is the most populous party
that believes in dialogue.
We dialogue and discuss, and in the
process there can be misunderstanding,
but they have always been resolved
amicably”, he said. While inviting
aggrieved members of the party who had
left to return, Tukur said that the “PDP is
a big umbrella that can accommodate
everybody”.
He however noted that is a party that
believed in discipline, fairness, justice
and equity, even as he stated that
“almost all our members who left the
party usually come back because it is the
only party this popular that believes in
dialogue”.
According to him, PDP is the only party
that offers freedom of information, and
believes in election, rather than
selection, adding, “our job in PDP is
peace and security, reconciliation
without confrontation, reformation
without revenge, and rebuilding our
party based on equity and justice.
While speaking on the recent judgment
of the Court of Appeal that set aside the
decision of a Federal High Court that
removed Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as
the national chairman of the party,
Tukur stated that he was yet to be served
with the ruling.
According to him, the romance of some
PDP governors with the opposition party
is not an issue to the PDP, and described
the leaders of the party as leaders not
only in the country, but also in the West
African region and continent “If we
have a strong platform and a strong
institution of political party, we would
be able to give the leadership, not only
in Nigeria, not only in West Africa, but
in the whole continent because with that
strong institution, we shall be able to
have stability, peace, security and
therefore have development and
prosperity”, he said.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Deli
Doherty, PDP chairman, southwest stated
that the award conferred on Tukur was
in recognition of his performance as an
outstanding African. He also stated that
he welcomed the collaboration of the
party with the FWP to take back Lagos
state in the next election, adding that the
collaboration is to be crystallized in the
south west region

PDP should reclaim the oil rigs from thieves and pipelines from vandals.

The party should retrieve Nigeria from crude federalism and return us to true federalism.

PDP should reclaim the Police from rot and indiscipline and restore honor and class to the police hierarchy.

The PDP government should stop plunging Nigeria into more and more debts with virtually nothing to show for it.

The PDP government should retrieve Nigerians from the pangs of hunger, poverty and other signs of under-development.

The PDP government should fight corruption and stop shielding corrupt people.

What did the PDP do with power when it ruled in the South West states of Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Ekiti?

Underrate the PDP at your own risk. As for SW, PDP still have strong feet. Unlike APC, PDP aint noise makers. The plan, they scheme and they strategise.

Am sure GEJ is reasonable enough not to factor the SW into his calculation to win .....

If he is that foolish to be nursing such hope...then he is truly clueless like they say he is.

Let him restrict all his hopes to the SE & SS

The question is which of the PDP? The old or new PDP? Omisore has given up and I don't see any PDP candidate defeating Aregbesola. Tukur should continue dreaming. APC till Nigeria disintegrates.

Do not generalize. APC won Oyo State by a stroke of luck. Check the results again below:

PDP: 386,480
ACN (Now APC): 420,167
Accord Party: 275,151

APC won by a margin of less than 40000 due to the crisis and fictionalization of PDP then.
Do you know the game-changer - The two aspirants from PDP & Accord Party that contested against the incumbent governor are now presenting a united front. Now tell me, how does APC intend to carry Oyo State in 2015 considering that nothing has really changed since 2011. Figures don't lie, they are above for you to see.
