Can anyone tell me which melon's seeds specifically do we use for traditional egusi?

I am thinking of grinding my own (not in pestle & Mortar though, Cuisinare will do), but I am not sure what type of melon seeds to use.
I am thinking of buying the actual melon, It's summer here now so melon's should be plentiful. and drying the seeds out myself and grinding them.

I just want to see if it will taste the same as store bought egusi.

So  all you agric majors and Naija culture specialist abeg help a girl out will ya?

Is this the right melon to use?

The ones we use back home are not here in the states. Unless you wanna use watermelon seeds or cantalope but it wont be the same

The picture you showed us is not a melon tree, pls buy the real melon seed and anyhow you grind it, it will come out good than to eat another seed in the name of melon. If you don't know who to prepare the egusi soup contact me I will teach you.

It's called watermelon seed on the label or real egusi from African store..... sunflower seeds gives the same result too ... just don't put too much water ofcourse unless you're making the Igbo egusi soup
