Federal Government concerning the fresh industrial action which began on Friday, 4 October, 2013. Asomugha, who made this disclosure in a chat with P.M.NEWS Campus Square, explained that there was a meeting between the union members and representatives of the Federal Government before embarking on the strike action on Friday. He noted that the Federal Government allowed the strike re-surface despite their discussions. “We had a meeting with representatives of the Federal Government in Abuja on the same day that we embarked on the strike action. “So, we can say that they purposedly allowed the strike action to take effect since they did not take any ‘tangible’ step to stop us whatsoever,” Asomugha noted. Her maintained that the union hopes to hear from the Federal Government today (Thursday) since that was what they promised the striking lecturers. “We are waiting for them to make a pronouncement on Thursday because that was what they told us. It’s going to be made public by them and everybody will see whether they can be trusted by their words or not. “The union hopes to call off this strike as soon as possible but if our demands are not met, it’s a pity that everything may yet fall on deaf ears” he added. —Damilare Okunola Source ::: www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2013/10/10/ asup-strike-we-are-expecting-fgs-response/ " Personally i believe all the union wants is recognition and partial fulfillment of their agreement by the federal government & they'll be good to go... The state at which we the people &students, (social medias,Federal government,State governments,Politicians & Journalist) are neglecting ASUP & its on going strike is very Sad,Fearful & heart-breaking. It has come to a stage where students of the polytechnics are looked upon as inferior & minors.. I wish to sate clearly that i as a person,as at this moment i don't care if u rate the University higher than the Polytechnics or College of Education higher than the poly all is ASK is that the FG should honorably do the NEEDFUL....... Many call the polytechnics Advance secondary Schools which breaks my heart a lot ,,,,ok YES or NO whether its an Advance secondary school or not the federal government should be in a better position to answer that...wait a second,,, if its even an advance secondary school owned by the government,is the government that irresponsible to neglect its own institution ?? The federal government should pls intervene on this issue or if the FG does not want the poly anymore they should simply scrap it & leave the present & future students to the harsh reality... Enough said,I hereby use this medium to challenge all polytechnic student that have been on ghost mode / quiet on this issue to speak up now,,,,NANS,,,AMACOS,,,SBMS,,NUJ,,PARENTS & SOCIAL NETWORKS. Its with heavy heart that i write this to my fellow students & the world ,We the Students of the Nigeria Polytechnics are not f.ools, not minors & definitely not a bunch retards.......I challenge you all to SPEAK now or REMAIN QUIET FOREVER. A great Nigeria Student::::::::::::::MAPOLY |
