The Imo chapter of the People’s
Democratic Party, PDP held a rally to
seek support for President Goodluck
Jonathan, ahead of the 2015 presidential
election.
Even though the president is yet to make
any public pronouncement on his alleged
ambition for the 2015 presidency, the
rally which held in Owerri, Imo State
capital, during the weekend saw the PDP
leaders maintaining that the party is
ready for the task ahead.
Addressing hundreds of PDP faithfuls at
the Egbu Central School in Owerri North
Local Government Area of Imo state, the
Chairman of the Contact and Mobilisation
Committee of the PDP in Imo State, Mr
Jerry Chukwueke, said that the PDP led
Federal Government under the Goodluck
Jonathan administration has proven to
Nigerians that theirs remains the party to
beat in the 2015 elections, as the
transformation agenda of the President
has delivered the dividends of democracy
to the people of the nation.
He added that the People’s Democratic
Party in Imo state, and the entire Imo
citizens are solidly behind the President if
he considers contesting for presidency in
2015.
He also added that as part of their
campaign, they are poised to ensure that
power in Imo State returns to the
People’s Democratic Party, come 2015.
The Chairman of the People’s Democratic
Party, PDP, in Owerri North LGA, Mr
Obinna Lumanze, also said that the effort
of the Contact and Mobilisation
Committee will go a long way to boost
the popularity of PDP at the state and
the National levels. He called on Imo
citizens to support the PDP so they can
wrestle power from the opposition in
2015 in the state.
The highpoint of the occasion was the
defection of some members of opposition
parties in the state from APGA, APC,
Labour Party and UPP to the People’s
Democratic Party.
