Ever since the subsidy fiasco, I completely lost faith in the HOR and the Senate. I don't expect anything different this time. The senate president himself might even be complicit in this theft!

Guys use your head, $49.8 bilion is a large sum of money to get missing or looted.
No one in his or her right senses will go ahead to loot this amount of money without getting axed.
The money will eventually come out. But if it doesnt, then Nigerian has failed woefully as a country.

If we can't manage and secure money from the treasury how will we able to secure looted funds gotten from corrupt government officials like abacha and Ibori. Very soon we will be hearing Abacha's looted fund delivered from the switzerland to Nigeria have been stolen. There are many things that need to be accounted for in this country

Now we can see why the white minority in South Africa didn't want to relinquish power to the black majority, Africans eat, breath ,sleep corruption. South Africa under the ANC is now as corrupt has the champion of corruption Nigeria.

Many of such amount have gone missing before now, so we are using our heads wink

So many of our leaders are in their right senses yet they still loot. They are simply greedy. The Judiciary system is corrupt, the reason such monies have gone missing in the past and nothing was done about it.
Truth.hurtss:

When the chips are down, nothing will be heard. I bet you that money will not come out and nothing will happen but wait oooo, are you a Nigeria for real? You talk as though you aint one angry

And nobody s asking how $49b can be missing in 1 year alone. how much do we make from oil in total.

NNPC has come out to educate Sanusi , yet Nigerians in the usual Lazy disposition or quest for sensational reporting refuse to look at it.

What a shame

It will be stating the obvious to say that NNPC and the FG are corrupt. However, I think this claim by Sanusi smacks of turf war and not, as interpreted, whistle blowing about actual theft. This is simply because the amount involved defies basic numeracy and a passing knowledge of how oil proceeds are split.

Bros you are dealing with borderline goons. A fund or capital that might not have been accrued or received or even remitted by the buyers of the crude oil has been declared missing. Nigeria needs to go.

This alleged letter was written by Sanusi to GEJ in secret but it got out to d media, already the APC senator come here is to justify d alleged letter without even asking the author why he wrote it in secret? Y didn't he write d letter to the senate? Did what NNPC say true? Why do dis bush men rant without doin dere homework. The story maybe true but please bring facts and stop using newspaper to make threats. Technically CBN has not claimed money is missing it was read in an alleged letter which was secretly written from Sanusi to GEJ.

satowind: If the senate want to impress the public they should think of probing them selfs by passing a bill on corruption among politicians not chasing a target of people for political gain. And they should endevour to cut down there allowance for sitting in a semi-circular table and doing notin.

Happy birthday to me sha

All will now agree with me that those youth are foolish in thinking. They had supported FG against ASUU saying the government doesn't have money ASUU is asking. $50 billion. look so small to you. THEY LOOK LIKE A LIFE TIME SLAVE. THE FG will be cheating them so seriously and those youth will still pity them. The pity they do not have for their parents. #brainwashed victims.

Mr. Gull,

Would you happen to know where NNPC keeps the proceeds from their transactions before they remit them to CBN as required by law? Do they use banks or do they maintain their own banks or vaults?

Mr. Chucks,

You have disappointedly turned yourself into a Star gazer. Do the countries and companies that buy crude oil from Nigeria deal with CBN? The buyers deal with banks designated by NNPC and other entities in downstream petroleum business not CBN. The onward remittance to CBN is carried out by NNPC and other entities as when due and required by the law of the land.

It is unfortunate that the governor of CBN has joined forces with President’s political opponents in a silly character assassination. If estimated crude oil worth of $50 billion dollars is missing, how does the government meet its responsibilities for the fiscal year?
