Governor Fayemi wins N2bn libel case
against Compass Newspaper
By Daily Post Staff on December 16, 2013@

A high Court siting in Ado Ekiti had ruled in
favour of Governor Kayode Fayemi on the
libel suit filed against Compass Newspaper,
over malicious and libellous publication
against the state Government and the
person of Dr Fayemi.
Compass Newspaper had published in one
of its editions that Fayemi was deducting
1Billion Naira from the Local Government
Account Monthly .
The paper equally published that the
Governor withdrew N25O Million from the
State account to bribe Justices of the
Supreme Court to seek favour from them
because of a pending case he had with Engr
Oni.
The Claimant called two witnesses who
established that the Publications were false.
The Compass thereafter, abandoned their
Statement of
Defence.
The Court however found out that the
Compass newspaper was reckless and
malicious in its Publication and that failure
to retract and apologise to the Governor
was despicable, awarding 2 Billion Naira
Aggravated Damages against them, and also
demanding a public apology to be published
in Compass and at least, 2 National Dailies.
The paper was also asked to retract the said
publication.

N2b!!!

Is Compass still alive? Who will pay him?

Even if Compass is alive, it will be very difficult or impossible for the company to raise this money. The premises of Compass is now desolate.

Well, except Team Fayemi wants to lift the veil of incorporation undecided

President Goodluck Jonathan is then a potential Billionaire if he desires to set aside his tolerance, gentility and act like Fayemi.

When you compare the democratic qualities of GEJ, you begin to appreciate having a civilian president as the best thing that happened to Nigeria nascent democracy where freedom of information act is a law and the right to personal opinion is guaranteed.

The only country where media houses deliberately publish lies against the Government and go free. They usually start the lies with the following phrases:
Information reaching us .............
Unconfirmed report has it that .............
Our source who wish to remain anonymous...
The officer/minister etc who was not authorised to speak said ..............
Etc
