It has now come to light that Governor Akpabio has not given up on his quest to be the Vice President of Nigeria and by some default, hope to be President, someday. The recent PDP Governor's meeting at the Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge, Abuja is very instructive.

The plot to remove Bamanga Tukur at all cost was the battle cry at the meeting. Indeed, Akpabio is fingered to have caused all the troubles in the PDP; from the Amaechi saga to the 7 aggrieved Governors, etc. He also ensured that there was no reconciliation with Amaechi and boasting that the party would easily win in Rivers State without Amaechi; discounting Amaechi's popularity and achievements in Rivers State. Political watchers agree that Akpabio's secondary quest for Senate is a smokescreen to divert attention from his well known ambition to be Vice President of Nigeria. How else do you explain his frequent meetings with religious leaders from the North and regular meetings with them in Abuja? The man has virtually abandoned Uyo and lives in Abuja! He knows that BamangaTukur is the backbone of President Jonathan and the number 1 anti-rigging exponent of the PDP. Tukur has promised the Party that the governorship primaries of the party would be free, transparent and fair.
