According to the Declaration of Independence, each of us is "endowed by our creator with certain inalienable ritghts, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Since TJ wrote this words, the question of what is happiness and what is required to attain it has been discussed in philosophy clases and bars, in classrooms and US Supreme Court. Does happiness come from pleasure? The fulfilment of every desire, From love? From meaning? Is it an end itself or the consequence of fulfilling some other love?

In your own perceptive, What is happiness and how does one attain it?

The measure of happiness differs from individual to individual.

Yes,each person have their own ideas of happiness. Some find it in pleasure, others in pain/or causing the other pain.

My question still remains unanswered, what is happiness to you and how do you obtain it?

Hmmm, funny thing is, most times people find their own happiness in putting a smile in other people's face.
Others, their idea of happiness is "wonderful marriage" or children. but why?

This is a real hard question. To me happiness, is making my parents proud. And seeing my teenagers see what they are truly capable. To obtain happiness requires work as much as anything else. To obtain it depends on what you consider happiness.

Happiness is an inner peace that radiates outer joy.

You don't tell people you are happy: They feel it.

I take happiness day by day, it is not some goal i aim to achieve.

i am happy when i wake up in the morning

i am happy when i have something to eat

i am happy when i get to work safely

i am happy when i can deliver my quota at the end of the day

i am happy when i get home safely

i am happy when i lay my head down to sleep.

Happiness for me is waking up and seeing my husband in the morning, getting my children up and seeing that they all made it safely thru another night and God blessed me with their presence today.  

Happiness is looking at my step-daughter and knowing that at 16 she is girl of high morals and virtue and that she remains that everyday despite the peer pressure.  

Happiness is knowing that where ever my children go they will always be respectful and well behaved even if I am not around.

Happiness is seeing my children smiling faces when i come from work.

Happiness is hearing thank you from my children, my husband, my parents, my sister and my brothers even when i dont expect that the little thing i did for them has brought them happiness.

For each person happiness is defined differently for me because i am a pleaser personality i get greater happiness from having those around me be happy.

To me happiness is me sitting outside under the sun. I sit there for hours at a time and meditate and get in touch with my source, my soul. I breathe in the refreshing air and take in the energy of the Earth. While i meditate, i think of all the things that i have achieved, all the trials i have over come, all the mistakes i have made, all the successes i have made, all the people i have hurt, all the people that hurt me, the love i have gained, the love i have lost, the rivers of tears i have made, and the path of righteousness i have walked,the mornings i wake up with a smile, the nights i cry myself to sleep, the days i feel as high as the clouds, the days i feel lower than dirt, the moments i know that God is with me, the moments i feel that i God has forgotten me. When i awake from my meditation and rediscovered my soul, then i know i have achieved happiness. Because i know where i have been, and where i can go.

This is happiness  

Happiness is realising while going through a ruff ruff time

that it would pass away, that there is a light at the end and there is a morning after the night

Happiness is knowing that there is someone who will always be there.


Sadness will grip me, when something unfair happens to smbody

Happiness takes over, when i realise that the person will make it through

or that i can help the person make it through


its pretty easy to get me happy

im not a grumpy person at all

i tend to worry alot, but im optimistic

Happiness comes when you are contented and grateful to God for who you are and what you have, it doesn't matter if all your dreams are fulfilled or not.

Happiness is a free gift of god it isnt something you go out of your way and look for cause your never gonna find it.
