Friday’s quakes in China destroyed 6,650 homes across several counties and townships, Xinhua News Agency said. The Yunnan seismology bureau said more than 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes. All told, 700,000 people had their lives disrupted by the quake, Xinhua said.

The death toll had gone up to 80 while 731 others were injured in the quake.

Rescuers in Yunnan province said that they had reached 90 percent of the six quake- hit counties under Zhaotang, where a total of 740,000 people had been affected by the quake followed by a series of aftershocks.
