I'm Muslim and yes, January 1st isn't officially our new year but for the purpose of being polite and civil, I respond to new year greetings. It doesn't reduce my faith in any way whatsoever. I don't wish my fellow Muslims happy new year. We live in a mixed society, we should try to tolerate one another's differences. If christians can wish us Barka-da-Sallah and even join in eating the ram killed for Eid-ul-adha, what's the big deal with wishing someone a happy new year? 2 Likes |
