Jokes apart, its about time Africans stoped whining and do the needfull, which is follow the footsteps of China. If we are able to play the game well, we can put in place policies that will attract serious Asian investments into this continent and free the quantity of our human mass from excruciating poverty.. How can we do so? Just follow the Chinese example.. There is a reason the chinese are more fond of Deng xiaoping than they are of Mao. Mao was an ideologue per excellence and never wanted anything to do with Capitalism. He was so enmeshed with the praticalisation of textbook communism that by the time he was gone , the only thing holding China together was the force of his aura, the power of his charisma.. People were genuinely desollussioned with the squalid living conditions and Chinas momumental fairlure at modernisation. The great leap forward became the great leap into disarray inspite of its usefullness in the proces of cultural tools upgrade.. Billions needed change and they got that with the dimunitive Deng. We need our own Deng..

His first ideological outburst was to inform his people that what matters is not how the cat cought the rat but that the cat did catch the rat. He started off with schools to skill Chinese to certain levels needed to produce quality outputs. He invested in free trade zones to try out some exotic capitalist concepts, he encouraged a gradual free ownership of property while maintaining law and order with communist finesse and most importantly, irrespective of the well documented ideological confrontations between the Chinese and the west, he was able to find the political will to create a conducive business environment amenable to targeted western productive investments. Business/trade/investment laws unheard of in communist politiburu meetings before were passed and IMPLEMENTED diligently. It gave courage and confidence to investors and with the skilled labour and mass population, lots of companies both Asian and western were falling over each other involved irrespective of the differences in terms of political ideologies. . Driven by the lure of profits. Profits will always trounce politics. We should learn.

What we need to do here is to leverage our resources, our massive quantity of human capital and the fact that we reside next to europe to attract most home grown investments from Africans living in diaspora and Asian companies especially the chinese koreans and japanese. They can produce cheaper here if we have the infastructure fixed, the population skilled and if we can provide security not just for people but for invesments too.. We can start by making it easier fo the Chinese to produce what the sell in this continent right here in this continent. Afteral most of the raw materials come from here. In essence the relationship shouldnt be a zero sum game. . We shouldnt be afraid of anything, shouldnt be afraid of our shadows, shouldnt be afraid of a yellow man with a stick. We can force out a healthy beneficial economic relationship from the emerging chinese interest in Africa if we try to skew things to our favour. Away that for partner to be active, there must be something there for him..It is possible because cost of labour here can be cheaper than it is in China as at today..
