Why Didn't Enyeama Dive For that Messi's Freekick?

I also find his positioning for the kick very dodgy indeed. Like he was inviting Messi to score on his left side. The gap he left to his left was so wide. So why didn't he dive when the ball got there? Where else was he expecting the ball to go? ALL VERY VERY DODGY.

Match fixing anyone?

It is called ''we will not be taken for a ride by these corrupt people pretending to be competing''.

This entire world cup STINKS of corruption and match fixing. As in virtiually EVERY GAME. I wasn't shocked when the Ghana goalkeeper virtually palmed the ball in the direction of the Portuguese player, who scored, yesterday. It was so blatant.

What 'career at stake' nonsense are you on about? The game is so corrupt today that his NOT succumbing to the apriori 'fixed result' would be more damaging to his career than his doing so. And no. The allegation is not ''baseless'' at all. Watch the freekick again if it helps.

Why are you afraid of the thread and want it closed? Stifling opinion is dictatorial, and a sign that you have something to hide. Mr functioning brain, do you have a personal torch in Enyeama's retina to know that ''he couldn't see the ball''? I repeat. Since he left such a wide space to his left, where else was he expecting the ball to go? Do you have an answer to that, Mr 'functioning brain', or your brain goes dead when it's time to consider that question?

Oh.. one more thing.. What was all that drama by Enyeama about after he let the goal in? Was he surprised Messi played the ball to his left side? Why should he be surprised? Where else did he expect Messi to play the ball? He looked like he was play-acting by feigning anger or surprise.

It's either you are a fool or you are just ignorant, Did you just start watching football yesterday 'cos i don't understand why any sane person will have this kind of myopic thoughts, Yes, Enyeama was at fault due to wrong positioning, This shiits happens all the time, Even Goal keeping gods like Buffon, Casillas, Van Der Sar and the likes have fell victims to wrong positioning at some points, Enyeama is human and he is allowed to make Mistakes.
You can only blame Enyeama if you haven't seen similar situations where keepers takes too many steps and end up not diving.

You are the only sensible person around here. Enyeama chose a side while the wall blocked the other side. Enyeama probably thought messi would change the position of the free kick and choose to play it to the goalkeeper's side instead of over the wall as the distance was far (Ronaldo does that a lot). Unfortunately messi chose to play it over the wall... it was a perfectly taken free kick and was always going away from the goalkeeper. No matter how hard Enyeama tries, he wouldn't get to that ball. The Only way he would have saved the ball was for him to make the movement before messi took the kick. But then if he had done that and it happened that messi chose the other direction, then we would blame him for not defending his own side.

This Op talking about match fixing... so u are telling me every goalkeeper Messi or other players have scored free kicks against were also involved in match fixing?

Seriously OP u think football in the real world is jus lyk Playstation Abi. If u and ur lyks know anything about football u'ld realise d "space" according to u was supposedly covered by the wall he set up though his positioning was a lil off. By the way the wall refers to those players who stand a couple of yards away from the ball to try to block the kicker from shooting directly at d keeper and post. I guess d Argentine keeper who dove away from Musa's shot was also doing his part in fixing d match... Smh

Abeg no mind the myopic OP. Everything na fixing, as if people don't make mistakes. I wonder what is there to be fixed.. Argentina are the better team, a draw is enough for them to top the group. I'm sure if it was Nigeria that scored a goal against Bosnia that was disallowed people will be here shouting match fixing. Referees, players, goalkeepers are all human. Enyeama chose his side, wall chose their side. Ok Enyeama was a little bit off position but it was a perfectly struck free kick. We have seen worse free kicks beat the best goalkeepers in the world.

The bolded was exactly what happened when south Korea scored their second goal against Nigeria in the last world cup and the commentators were like "if the goalkeeper had remained in his spot, he would have caught the ball"

@ op, I am not a tactician but in most freecicks I see, the goal keeper never stands behind the wall...that is why the wall is there!

Kindly spare me that ''Argentina are the better team'' line. That claim can ONLY be based on a game between the two nations that is CLEAN. If you cannot show the game was CLEAN, you cannot make any claim as to which team is ''better''. Was it not Argentina we beat 4-1 in Abuja? So nothing is certified. And there is NO reason we should expect to lose to them. International match-fixing, involving huge betting syndicates, often aims to entrench those hierarchical stereotypes, those predictable scorelines, at big events like the world cup. One could almost swear that that Nigeria v Argentina game would end in a narrow 2-1 or 3-2 scoreline in favour of the Argentines. That protects all kinds of betting regimes involving countless billions of dollars globally. A Nigeria win simply wasn't 'on the cards'. It would have lost far too much money to far too many people. cool

Why did you say ''you beat Argentina'' as opposed to ''we beat Argentina''? Are you not a member of the nation that beat them? Or you don't recognise the Super Eagles' victory? Why not? Because it doesn't conform to your media-fuelled delusion that Argentina are ''the better team"? I bet you wouldn't be so derisory of the game if the Argies had beaten us 4-1 in Abuja. Then it would 'make sense' to you. Conditioned goat.
