Ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Paul Oguma, who went blind after leaving office, has been confined to his Ngwa, Abia State village home as his condition has kept him out of public eye for a long time now.

Those in the know and close to the former banker said he relocated from Abuja to his village in Abia State, when he could not find a cure for his eye problem.

Sources said that Oguma has been keeping a low profile at his village since he was taken there by his family members when he became blind.

First Weekly Magazine gathered from reliable sources close to the former CBN governor that all known medication administered on the former CBN for the ailment before he became totally blind could not succeed as he eventually went blind.

I think age has a role to play here. Some people gets blind at old age. Is the man not up to 70?

In a country where mere cataract condemns thousands to eternal blindness,he should have used his position as the apex bank head to boost researches on blindness, causes, complications and prevention. He probably would have been saved from going blind himself if he has done much to save others that helplessly go blind as a result of lack of any medical intervention.
