A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday fixed October 8 for hearing in the suit filed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) asking it to declare the seat of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, vacant for decamping from the party on which platform he was elected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).This is as the issue of counsel representing the governor was resolved following the withdrawal of Sunday Olabode who had been at loggerheads with Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) on who should represent Okorocha.The development had at the last adjourned date, prompted the court to summon Okorocha and the state’s Attorney-General, Chukwuma-machukwu Ume (SAN),to appear before it to clarify who was briefed to represent the governor.It would be recalled that APGA had through its counsel, Victor Odjemu, instituted the suit wherein it is praying the court for an order directing the deputy governor of Imo State or Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly or any officer next in line to the position of the governor of Imo, who is a memberof the plaintiff (APGA) to be sworn-in as the governor of Imo State. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/07/court-fixes-oct-8-hearing-apgas-suit-okorocha/ |
