Hi guys, please help a brother out. I drive a Toyota Corolla 2000 model. The problem is that the car stalls and shuts off in traffic when the engine is considerably hot. The check engine light is off. If I try to start it immediately, it doesn't come up until I allow it to cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes. It behaves like a car overheating, but I have coolant in it, not water. Please what could be the cause. I asked a mechanic, and he said it's a sensor. Asking him what sensor and where it is, no reasonable answer.

Check light off? If yout sure your check light is not tampered with, have your mechaninc check

1. Idle speed control valve. It might need servicing.
2. Fuel pump presure.

3. Hope your temp does not go above half mark?

If your check light is off. Your car needs a tune up and this involves checking your spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, not with standing run a scan. Doesn't really matter if your check light is off
