Chelsea had earlier announced they had reached an agreement with
the Spanish side for Costa in a deal worth £32million, and now the
Blues have confirmed the move following Costa's return from the
World Cup.

The Brazilian-born striker goes straight into Jose Mourinho's first-
team squad, and will travel out for Chelsea's pre-season European
training camp next week.

Costa was in superb form for his side last season, helping Atletico win
La Liga and reach the Champions League semi-final.

He will compete with Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba
for a place in Chelsea's attack, and will be hoping he can help
Mourinho win next season's Premier League title.

Costa admitted he was thrilled to be joining the Blues, saying: "I am
very happy to sign for Chelsea. Everybody knows it is a big club in a
very competitive league, and I am very excited to get started in
England with a fantastic coach and team-mates.

"Having played against Chelsea last season I know the high quality of
the squad I am joining.

"I would like to thank everybody at Atletico who made me into the
player I am, it was an incredible time for me, but now I am starting a
new adventure and I hope to win many trophies with Chelsea."
