On Friday, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Nigeria unleashed terror on a police officer on duty at the official residence of IGP MD Abubakar in Maitama District of Abuja.

According to an eyewitness, the envoy tried to pass through a barricade set infront of the IGP’s house but was ordered to turn back by the policemen on duty.

He was politely told to take another route due to security reasons however, Rajeh insisted on using the route. He was reported to have forcefully ordered the policemen to remove the barricade for his convoy to pass.

When they turned down his request, he resorted to engaging the policemen in a hot exchange of words using verbally abusive language.

At some point, the ambassador became infuriated and began punching one of the policemen on duty at the IGP’s house.

The situation, our source further revealed, took another twist, resulting in the Saudi ambassador rushing to a top presidency official for intervention, apparently to stop the matter from getting out of hand, or even arousing his superiors in Saudi Arabia.

And there was no 'accidental discharge'? undecided undecided

Had it been a 'danfo' driver or an 'okada' rider, it would have been a different story.

That's a fat lie, he wouldn't go scot free. Diplomatic immunity doesn't mean diplomatic impunity. Nigeria might not have powers to arrest him, but his employers (Saudi) would if Nigeria pressurizes them.

Why would someone come from Saudi Arabia and start beating a policeman on his official duty?

Had it been it was a Nigerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, it would definitely be another story now.

The Ambassador should be arrested!

Highly reprehensible for a diplomat to lose every sense of decorum and behave like a thug.

I'm amazed no one has questioned the propriety of putting a barricade outside the home of the IG such that motorists are forced to make detours, let me guess Boko Haram? How does having barricades outside the home of every top government official solve our terrorism problems? what becomes of ordinary citizens who are and have been first line victims of previous BH attacks?
This thread in many ways highlights all that's wrong with us. Here we are accepting an absurdity as normal and calling for the arrest of a foreigner with the guts to protest when we cowardly failed to and yet we ask why our government treat Nigerians like thrash? well perhaps Nigerians are!

The country called nigeria lost her dignity. am very much convinced that the ambassador had been beating n harassing the police men attached to him if not he wouldn't had gotten the courage to faze the man on duty.
Unfortunately noting will happen after the victim is offered 1 million naira, he would be the one to denied n called it rumor fabricated to stain the Saudi authority n Islam.
Their is hope for nigeria redemption! !!

So your hallowed foreigner should abuse his welcome by mishandling security operatives? He can only pull that kind of dastardly stunt in a country like Nigeria. If it were in saner climes, he would have since been dispatched back to his home country.

Would he have to "pull that stunt" if the generality of citizens weren't docile? Would a road be barricaded forcing road users to make detours simply because an IG of police lives nearby in a saner clime?
