THE founder of Daniel and Asabe Foundation, a non-governmental organization, and political analyst, Mr. Daniel Richard, has said that the performance of Acting Governor Alhaji Amadu Umaru Fintri, in four days, has surpassed former Governor Murtala Nyako’s seven years in office.

Meanwhile, it was double political tragedy for the ousted governor on Friday, as his former commissioners washed their hands off him, declaring their total support and loyalty to the Acting Governor.

Richard noted that the first 24 hours of Fintri is better than Nyako’ years in office, pointing out that Fintri’s first official pronouncement was the payment of workers’ salaries. He said: “The Acting Governor’s first pronouncement was the payment of workers’ salaries, and the following day Adamawa workers got their June salary, which Nyako refused to pay. He also said that he is going to pay the two-month salaries that the former governor diverted to private use.

“You know a good leader by the matching of his words with action. Within 24 hours, Fintri has done that. So, left to me, the Acting Governor should be allowed to be our governor, as long as he is doing well. In the first place Nyako was not voted by the people of Adamawa. The Supreme Court imposed him on us. And now that God has decided to remove him from the office, we should celebrate his ouster.”

Spokesman for the ex-commissioners forum and Nyako’s cousin, Alhaji Aminu Yawa, who was Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure under the immediate past government, said that their courtesy visit to the Acting Governor was to assure him of their support.

Yawa, a strong former supporter of Nyako, said government is a continuous process and that what is important is service delivery to the people. He assured the Acting Governor that they (Nyako’s ex-commissioners) are ready to contribute their quota any time he needs their service.

Fintri who commended them for their solidarity visit said that his government would be fair and transparent in ensuring that the lost glory of the state is restored.

Richard further said that his main concern was getting a leader that has the mission and vision to develop the state irrespective of his religion or ethnicity.

He said: “Some people are talking of elections within 90 days in Adamawa, but the question is, only people that hate development in our state will say that for their selfish interest. There is no good coach that will keep his best player on the bench. For now, Fintri is Adamawa’s best player. See what happened to Brazil after Neymar sustained injury; the country lost out because the team had no player to lead them.”
