To find out if your vehicle is a lemon, purchase an AutoCheck vehicle history report. AutoCheck will note on your report if the vehicle has a lemon title.

It's important to remember that each state has its own lemon law. Your vehicle might be considered a lemon in one state but not considered a lemon in another state. Contact your state department of motor vehicles to learn more about the lemon laws in your state.

Water Damage Title Brand

Hurricanes, thunderstorms and flash flooding are responsible for water damage on many vehicles each year in the United States. Don't think that because you live miles from a hurricane or flood zone that you won't encounter a water-damaged vehicle. It is common for vehicles to be moved thousands of miles before they are put up for sale. How can you be sure the vehicle you're about to purchase has not been involved in a natural disaster and sustained significant water damage?

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 6:53pm On Apr 14, 2016
Remember that it's always a good idea to have the vehicle examined by a certified mechanic before you purchase it. A trained mechanic will know what to look for when it comes to water damage.

You should also purchase an AutoCheck vehicle history report to make sure the title has not been branded with water damage at some point in its past. If the vehicle's title has been reported as branded with water damage, it will be on your report.

With that said, there are still a few things you can check for that may indicate whether the vehicle has sustained significant water damage:

Does the vehicle have rust in spots that should have minimal contact with water (such as the dashboard or glove compartment)?
Does the vehicle have a moldy or musty smell?

Are the electrical parts (such as the air conditioner, windshield wipers, etc.) in good working order?
Check the floorboard carpet for water residue or stain marks from evaporated water.
Check for rust on screws in the console or other areas where the water would normally not reach unless submerged.
Check for mud or grit in alternator crevices, behind wiring harnesses and around the small recesses of starter motors, power steering pumps and relays.
Check the electrical wiring system, looking for rusted components, water residue or suspicious corrosion.
Inspect the undercarriage of other components for evidence of rust and flaking metal that would not normally be associated with late-model vehicles.

By taking a few simple precautions, you can avoid a vehicle that has been damaged by water.

Save Today: How Does the State Promote the Purchase of Hybrids in Different Countries or one more reason for buying electric cars

Motors on hybrids can save your money at a gas station. Is it really worth it – to buy such an expensive gasoline-wagon? In fact, in the US, Japan, China and some European countries there is a whole range of tax benefits and other bonuses from the state if you buy a hybrid. Let’s find out all the advantages of this purchase.
Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 5:04pm On Apr 15, 2016
USA

It would be logical to start with an overview of the country, which is one of the most active and interested in promoting of eco-efficient vehicles. United States – here, since the nineties is promoted the theme of reducing emissions into the atmosphere by using a combination of internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 5:05pm On Apr 15, 2016
So, in 2005, the new Energy Policy Act brought significant discounts for buyers of hybrids. On the new vehicles, purchased after 31 December 2005, it was possible to obtain a differentiated tax deduction (depending on the model), the maximum size of which amounted to $ 3 400.

The only limitation was the amount of cars that are covered by the privilege – only the first 60 000 for each automaker. The purpose of introducing a limit was to put all on the same footing as the clear leader in this segment were the Japanese, namely Toyota, which could get much greater benefit than others. Limit allowed others to offer their hybrid solutions at a better price, especially when leaders reached their limit on benefits. Expected Toyota (and Lexus) were the first who got 60,000 “points” – they went out of the game in 2007. In 2009 they were joined by Honda, and by 2010, they caught up with Ford.

Is a Classic car worth buying?

There is a greater influx of new and better cars these days, so the value of classic vintage cars is slowly increasing. This is the reason many people are wanting to buy one, or imitate or overhaul a classic car. However, not everybody is impressed with classic cars, and some may even consider them as junk and not worthy of garage space even. But if you are a real car enthusiast, you are sure to love a classic car.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 3:33pm On Apr 19, 2016
The big question here is how much of an enthusiast you are, so that you will go out of your way to buy a vintage car. And what are your real reasons for buying such a car? Are you likely to use it as an alternate car? Or is it just that you want to try out your restoration talents on such a car? Or is it that you will just love looking every day at such a car sitting in your garage?

Installing a DVD in your car

At one time, DVD players were found only in a few luxury cars. Now, they can be added to just any vehicle. There are different models of DVD players in the market, but they can be basically divided into three types – in-dash, headrest mounted and flip down. Each type has its own advantage, and some are easier to install than the others.

According to Scotiabank’s Global Auto report, automobile sales grew 25% year-over -year in March, which marks the 6th consecutive double digit increase.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 4:18pm On Apr 20, 2016
The headrest mounted type of DVD player is the most popular. These are for the use of the backseat passengers, as one, or two screens are mounted on the rear of the front headrests. You have two options in this category – you can either buy a portable DVD player with one or more screens, and just attach it to the back of the headrests with the help of elastic or Velcro. The advantage of this option is that you can move these easily between vehicles, or use them elsewhere. The other option is to have the DVD player/screen built into the headrest. You can buy headrests for most car models with integrated LCD screens, designed to match your existing ones exactly. You lose on portability, but gain in looks, for the built-in units look much better.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 4:21pm On Apr 20, 2016
The flip-down monitors are designed to be attached to your vehicle’s roof. Some of them have an integrated DVD player, but it has to be added separately on other models. These are quite challenging to install, and you may require professional help to install them. Some flip down type monitors can also be installed in the vehicle’s sun visors, but this option is not suitable in the case of large monitors.

Of the many challenges faced by the denizens of New York City each day, the simple act of getting to work may be the greatest. And for those who live in Brooklyn’s growing Williamsburg neighborhood, commuting is about to get a lot more difficult. Newly announced subway construction plans call for the closure of the L-line subway tunnel beneath the East River to repair flood damage caused by Hurricane Sandy back in 2012. The train’s 300,000 daily passengers will have to make other arrangements for “up to 18 months” during the shutdown.

The news prompted the NYC-centric blog Gothamist to dig up an old article about an alternative transportation plan — one for the East River Skyway, a system that would link the New York boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens to Manhattan via gondola. (That would be the ski kind of gondola, not the Italian guys in little boats, though we could see that charm in that.)

Hoping to curb assaults on its drivers, the on-demand ride service is testing a novel tool to distract and pacify inebriated passengers: A child's toy.

The drunken passenger can be the bane of an Uber driver's existence — but serving the over-served is one of the ride-sharing company's core revenue drivers. The solution to potential conflicts, some hope, could be child’s play.

In the back of Uber cars in Charlotte, North Carolina, passengers may find something unusual: a multicoloured electronic toy called the Bop It! For those who have not been nine years old in the current millennium, Bop It! is an oddly shaped plastic contraption that barks out commands to “Bop it,” “Twist it” and “Pull it,” and awards points as various buttons and knobs are bopped, twisted, and pulled. (Made by US toymaker Hasbro, the Bop It! is powered by a 4.5-volt AA electric drivetrain, delivering 162 foot-pounds of dork.) It is upon the inebriated irresistibleness of this toy that the king of disruptive unicorns now hangs its hopes.

Faraday Future's marquee investor builds an electric car of its own. And it's amazing.
The unveiling in Beijing on 21 April included no mention of production plans for LeSee (the 'See' in its name stands for "Super Electric Ecosystem"wink, and LeEco CEO Jia Yueting was concept-car hazy when it came to quoting specifications, although he did offer a fairly impressive demo of the car's self-driving and self-parking features by speaking commands into his app-connected smartphone. No surprise, the car is packed to its glass roof (one piece, from the windscreen to the rear window) with futuristic glitz, including face- and emotion-recognition features, shape-shifting seats, a bumper-level external LED display and colour-changing lighting, and a segmented steering wheel that folds away during autonomous operation to free up cabin space. It's enough to make a Tesla Model S look downright ordinary.

A retired New York City cop, John Lennon impersonator and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang superfan has built a cunning replica of the original flying car.

Convention-centre lobbies tend to give off a sideshow vibe during auto shows. Out here, away from the heavy hitters in the main halls, sits a hodgepodge of vintage artefacts, homebuilt specials, earnest eco-solutions and tacky paint-and-wheel “concept” cars. And during this year’s New York auto show, the soaring atrium of Manhattan’s Jacob Javits Center was no different. That’s where we found Tony Garofalo and his car. On a swath of red carpeting, sandwiched between a khaki-coloured Lamborghini with US Marine Corps messaging and the Mazda Miata Spyder concept from the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association show, sits the New Yorker’s cunning, hand-built replica of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from the 1968 film of the same name.

All you should know about VINs

What is a VIN?

VIN is the shortened form of Vehicle Identification Number – the code that identifies a specific car. It is akin to the fingerprint of the car as no two cars that are running will have identical VINs. This VIN comprises of 17 characters (including figures and capital letters) and this helps to identify the vehicle in a unique manner. The VIN shows the unique characteristics of the car – its specifications and the name of the manufacturer. The VIN comes in handy to track recalls, make claims on warranty, registrations, insurance and even in case of thefts.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 12:05pm On Apr 26, 2016
Where can I find the VIN?

The VIN is located in the dashboard on the side of the car where the driver sits. The best way to find it is to stand outside the car on the side of the driver and peer into the dashboard’s corner at its juncture point with the windshield. If it cannot be located here then it is best to open the drivers’ door and look at the door post – the point were the door latches are fixed.

Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus: 12:07pm On Apr 26, 2016
Look for the VIN in these other locations:

The VIN will be written in the insurance card or policy as well as in the registration papers of the vehicle.

What if the VIN is not 17 characters long?

If the VIN does not comprise of 17 characters then it is best to immediately check again and see if there has been some careless mistake in jotting down the numbers. But even after that if the numbers are not 17 then most likely the automobile is a pre-1981 car. Before 1981 the VIN were anything from 11 to 17 characters. AutoCheck can report only those vehicles that have 17 characters VIN. This limits the information available for pre-1981 cars.
