Hazard Air bag

The main purpose of air bags are to be closer to the rider at the time of collision with an obstacle, “hugging” him and damping stroke. The Chevrolet Corvette driver’s airbag even went too far: after opening it can be separated from the steering wheel and act “in the circumstances”.

Car hackers

Hacking emails and pages in social networks characterize our present and hacking smart phones and credit cards are gaining momentum and are on the cutting edge for many years. Well, how to feel safe in this world, when even your favorite Dodge Challenger can be cracked!

Computerization, wireless interfaces, and maniacal connecting to the Internet – from phones to coffee makers – that is at the same time a useful trend, and the scourge of our time. On the one hand, it is convenient remotely to turn off the lights in the smart home, watch the movement of a pet in your apartment through action on the collar-camera or listen to online radio in your Grand Cherokee. On the other – you have to be prepared for the fact that one day you will not find that Cherokee outside your home.

The pros and cons of a new car

Best car is a new car! Surely you’ve heard about this thousands of times by hundreds of people, and this is generally true. The new car is usually by so-to-date design, modern safety technology and level of comfort. On modern cars is easier and more pleasant to ride. When the driver feels comfortable behind the wheel when he is confident in the reliability of his car, it is less subject to stress and he can concentrate fully on the road. Plus, more advanced electronics in new cars helps to avoid the majority of small but dangerous mistakes, and sometimes tells what to do. For beginners, especially for women, it is very important from the point of view of psychology. Their actions by the hands and feet are not even brought to the automatism – that is the main cause of fear, confusion, self-doubt and even panic. Beginners think more about when and how to shift gears smoothly and release the clutch, than follow the road, look in the mirror and learn to predict the situation. Hence is the frequent situation of force majeure, ending slammed on the brakes or sudden movements of the steering wheel. Here’s the electronics comes to the rescue, so it is advisable not to spare money for the stabilization of the system ( ESP, ESC, and so on. P.)

Go ahead. The second advantage of the new car is a legal entity. Buying a car in the salon of official dealer, you risk nothing. You will ensure the safety of settlements, will be helped with the paperwork. But most importantly – you are guaranteed to buy a “clean” car. This is important, you agree?

Well, and the third argument in favor of a new car is the technical one. No need to think about where to go in case of damage, do not bother looking for the right auto parts, fluids, filters. The dealer deals with all these issues, gives a guarantee on the vehicle and on its own carries out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance during the warranty period. You, meanwhile, gradually master the nuances of not only driving, but also owning a car, getting knowledge and experience gradually, rather than raking a pile of troubles, that do not understand anything.

Pros and cons of a used car

Take the used car and do not worry. All the same, you will break something, while studying. “You can’t buy a new car from the start” – these words are usually said by supporters of this theory. The main argument of such advisers is: it’s expensive. Expensive to buy, expensive to maintain, expensive to repair. Indeed, for certain categories of people to buy a used car is a great solution because:

the prices of new cars are too high. For the same money you can buy a used car a class above or just save a decent amount, which then can be spent on the purchase of a new car;
branded service stations charge for their services crazy money, so even on the parts price is wound. A used car can be repaired or to be given in private workshops, and you can buy spare parts on a car market;
any newcomer mandatory beats the mirrors, bumpers the breaks and puts scratches. We really don’t want our new car to be exposed to such tests. But frankly speaking it is very difficult to avoid such situations. But the used car seems is just designed for such manipulations;
moreover, all this newfangled electronics is for wimps. To become a good driver, you must first learn to ride without any assistants, and then the sea will be on the knee, and the mountains – on the shoulder.

Yet a used car bought at an affordable price, without accidents and with a low mileage may well be considered to be the first in the life. In its favor is the fact that the price of a used car is slowly declining, so in a year or two it can be sold almost for the same price for which it was purchased.

Steps to find good salvage cars

Mostly the insurance companies sell salvage cars. The cars which get damaged in accidents are redeemed by the insurance companies and sold out through an open auction. With auctionexport.com you can take pat in such an auction sitting at Nigeria and can bid for a salvage car of US.

The merit of salvage cars lies in their body-parts. Moreover, keeping the factor of environment in mind, experts are putting stress on the use of salvage cars from where a new car can be made, curtailing the amount of metal wastage in the environment.

But eyeing an off-shore salvage car is a matter of great risk, the experts say. There is no guarantee about the performance of these cars. The report of the accident which you are told may not be true. You never know. The extent of the damage can also be much more than you are told. At the same time, you can also hope to get some good car-parts at a cheaper rate. You can sell them and make a good amount of profit. If the condition of the car is not that bad then you can always repair and use.

Many car lovers have fascination for foreign cars. But buying a first hand foreign car with all its cost is not that easy. Rather opting for a salvage car is quite affordable. But, one has to be extra cautious about these cars. The rightful ownership of these cars does not come automatically with purchasing. Remember to arrange for that separately.

Though old-school SUVs appear to be outdated, they are undeniably the first choice for consumers who are looking for bigger interior and cargo capacity, or in other words, a car that would have the dual function of a car like experience, but the utility of a truck. Though the supersized SUVs are gradually phasing out, there is an upsurge in ‘car-based SUVs’ in the market. SUVs are categorized by their price range.

Even if you are planning to purchase a basic SUV, you can for sure expect add-ons along with your purchase. The ‘Honda CR-V’, ‘Toyota RAV-4’ and the Chevrolet Equinox are few of the cars available, which provide for loads of interior space both for cargo and passengers, excellent driving experience and good money value. The RAV4 in addition has a ‘third row seating’ arrangement and a slightly more powerful engine. The Chevrolet Equinox on the other hand has stylish looks both on the interior as well as exterior, and a smooth engine. All the three are a suitable choice for people with a low estimate.

Eliminate Distractions
As driving instructors stress, your hands tend to follow where your eyes are looking. Adjusting the radio dial takes 5.5 seconds—and that's 5.5 seconds when his eyes may not be on the road and both hands may not be on the wheel. Dialing a phone triples your risk of a crash. Reaching for a moving object increases it nine times. Worst of all is texting, which makes you 23 times more likely to crash. "Avoid the temptation to multitask behind the wheel altogether and put your cell phone in the glove compartment every time you get in the car," says Ray Lahood, U.S. Secretary of Transportation.

Lower Your Seat
Drivers who sit higher feel as if they're driving slower. Thus, SUV drivers, who are already piloting the vehicles most prone to roll, drive faster because they feel like they're creeping along. So lower your seat to get the sensation of more speed.

Turn Your Lights On
A Canadian study from 1994 found that people who drive with their headlights on during daylight hours have an 11 percent decreased risk of being in an accident with another automobile.

Assume the Position
Smaller blind spots mean you'll crane your neck less. Try this mirror adjustment method from Tom and Ray Magliozzi, hosts of NPR's Car Talk: Set your rearview mirror as you normally would, then tilt it upward so you sit up straight. Lean your head against the driver's window, then set your left mirror so you can see the back corner of your car. Lean right to do the right mirror.

Don't ride your clutch in anticipation of shifts. You'll accelerate quicker and your clutch will last longer if you use it like expensive cologne—sparingly.

If you plan to buy car in Nigeria, then make sure that you equip yourself with the basic information. If you are not very well versed with the technicalities of automobiles, then you should either brush up your skills or you should take assistance of a friend who has immense knowledge about the same.

A quick guide for buying a car in Nigeria

The first step is to ask yourself what you want. There are so many cars which are available in the market. You can opt for a Honda or a Nissan or a Mercedes or anything else. Apart from your personal preferences, your financial strength would also play a decisive role in the matter. But in case, you really wish to buy an expensive car but do not have the budget to do so, then you can also exercise your choice of buying a used car. For instance, you may not be able to afford a brand new Mercedes. But if you do want to buy only a Mercedes and nothing but a Mercedes, then you can get a model which has been used for a few months. It won’t be brand new but you can get it quite cheaply.

Give It a Rest
Shift into neutral at traffic lights. The transmission doesn't care, and it makes life a bit easier for the engine. This technique reduces the amount of heat carried by the cooling system and can increase gas mileage a tick or two.

The folks at DriveCam analyze driver behavior using video recorders installed on vehicles. (See highlights at drivecam.com.) Safety specialist Julie Stevens recommends sticking to the center lane on freeways. Rear-end crashes happen less there than in adjacent lanes. "Every time you change lanes you add risk," she says, "and the slow lane always has the most action." Other research has shown that the "chronic lane changer" saves a mere four minutes out of an 80-minute drive.

Use Your Headrest
Before you hit the road, sit up straight, raise your head as high as you can, and press it into the headrest. Hold it there for five seconds, then relax and repeat five times. This will improve your posture and put muscles like your multifidus to work to keep your spine erect. This, in turn, will reduce the strain on your neck.

Jump-Start a Dead Battery
If your battery terminals are corroded, crack open a can of cola and pour it directly onto the battery terminals. The acid in the cola will bubble away the corrosion, improving both your connection and the odds of a successful jump-start. Once you're home, run water over the battery to remove the cola residue and dry it with an old rag.

Avoid the Hot Seat
If you want to become a dad, don't turn up your heated car seats this winter. A study in Fertility and Sterility found that when healthy men sat in a temperature-controlled seat for 90 minutes, their scrotal temperature jumped as high as 99 degrees Farenheit, four degrees above the optimum temperature for sperm production.

Add Some Horsepower
If you drive a turbo, all you need is a bit of computer programming to add some power. Whether you're driving a twin-turbo Bentley or a simple 1.8-liter VW diesel, a few minutes of "chip tuning" by your mechanic can add 20 percent more power.
