Buhari Spits Fire!!! by AwesomeRomeo: 11:10pm On Jul 21, 2014
The former head of state says despite being a
politician, he has a duty to speak out
Former Military Head of State, Muhammadu
Buhari, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan,
to promptly halt what he called the government’s
“runaway train of impunity” which he said now
threatens the nation’s democracy.
In a blunt remark Monday, Mr. Buhari, now a
leader of the opposition All Progressives
Congress, APC, blamed Mr. Jonathan for the
impeachment of the Adamawa State governor,
Murtala Nyako, and the recent gale of
impeachment threats against other APC
governors.
“Whether or not President Goodluck Jonathan is
behind the gale of impeachment or the utilization
of desperate tactics to suffocate the opposition
and turn Nigeria into a one-party state, what
cannot be denied is that they are happening
under his watch, and he cannot pretend not to
know, since that will be akin to hiding behind one
finger,” Mr. Buhari said in a statement.
He accused the government of subverting the
constitution to impeach a governor, and deploying
the institutions of state “just to kick an out-of-
favour state governor in the groin”.
“’The dangerous clouds are beginning to gather
and the vultures are circling; and these have
manifested in Nasarawa where the ordinary
people have defied guns and tanks to protest the
plan to impeach Gov. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in
a repeat of the bitter medicine forced down the
throat of Gov. Murtala Nyako,” Mr. Buhari said.
“’The people’s protest in Nasarawa is a sign of
what to come if the federal authorities continue to
target opposition state governors for
impeachment. In the long run, the impeachment
weapon will be blunted. Positions will become
more hardened on both sides and Nigeria and
Nigerians will become the victims of arrested
governance and possible anarchy.”
Mr. Nyako was removed last Tuesday by state
lawmakers, accused of misspending government
funds.
The opposition APC accuses Mr. Jonathan and
the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of
being behind the move, an allegation fuelled by
speculations that more APC governors are
targeted for impeachment.
After Mr. Nyako’s ouster, lawmakers in Nasarawa
State moved against their governor, Tanko Al
Makura, threatening impeachment also on
allegations of mismanagement.
The presidency and the PDP have denied
responsibility for the happenings in Adamawa and
Nasarawa States.
But Mr. Buhari said as president, Mr. Jonathan
cannot feign ignorance of the unfolding political
events, and warned of serious threats against a
nation already facing grim security troubles with
attacks on defenceless civilians by the extremist
Boko Haram sect spiralling out of control.
Mr. Nyako’s impeachment, or similar threats
against other APC governors, are aimed at
“decapitating” the opposition, he said, warning of
dire implications for Nigeria’s “tenderfoot
democracy”.
Mr. Buhari, who has thrice vied and failed to
become president, said President Jonathan should
remember no democracy can thrive without a
virile opposition, “hence it will amount to a man
cutting his nose to spite his face for anyone to
embark on a journey to decapitate the opposition,
as the current central government is doing”.
He said a man of power must realize he cannot
always do things just because he could do them.
“I, along with many other patriotic Nigerians,
fought for the unity and survival of this country.
Hundreds of patriotic souls perished in the battle
to keep Nigeria one. The blood of many of our
compatriots helped to water the birth of the
democracy we are all enjoying today.
“Let no one, whether the leader or the led, the
high or the low, a member of the ruling or the
opposition do anything to torpedo the system. Let
no one, whether on the altar of personal ambition
or pretension to higher patriotic tendencies, do
anything that can detonate the keg of gunpowder
on which the nation is sitting. It is time for all
concerned to spare a thought for the ordinary
citizens who have yet to see their hopes, dreams
and aspirations come to reality, within the general
context of nationhood,” Mr. Buhari said.
The ex-military ruler said he has a duty to speak
out regardless of his status as a politician and an
opposition leader, and that he resorted to public
comments after unsuccessfully trying to have the
president reconsider his tactics after he discussed
with him privately.

Why should he blame jonathan for the impeachments

Rather he should fault his parties tactics...and thats what worked against them...

Rather than complaining he should do needful and get jonathan out in 2015...

Who said this? And on what occasion? What is the effect of this statement on the Nigeria nation since that statement was made?

U get the type of comment above from people who do not have adequate reasoning tendencies. U can only understand somebody if u intend to. Nigeria e.g like u guys who coMment above don't like truth and will not want to hear or support it any where. He has made serious national points and all u guys do is interprete it in a malicious manner to mere his personality. Must say something!!! Buhari foresaw the insecurity we are currently facing in the country today and dat is what he meant by Baboon and monkey soaked in blood and today we are seeing it. Now some unreasonable people have decided to interprete dat in a manner that will tarnish his image by labelling him Boko Haram even wen no one can provide an evidence to dat. Nigeria can not get a leader like Buhari and before we realise it will all be late. We have plenty Ex-president out of all only him cared to say something about wat is going on wrong yet we can't see beyong religious and ethnic difference.

What does Buhari tend to loose or gain if he becomes the president of unreasonable people like Nigerian. If only he will listen let him forget about Nigeria and face his family they need him more. Those who have black records will not allow him become the president because of what they know will follow

Buhari is the problem of Nigeria, his mind is evil, his statements can tell,I think someone should explain to this man that politics is a game and the will of the people must prevail, the nassarawa state house of assembly is a representation of the people of nassarawa and the decision is the decision of the people, can PDP try this in Portharcourt,Lagos or Ogun? NO, it would not fly can't this man understand the will of the people if they intend to impeach their governor it means he's doing something wrong and has no relationship with the house of assembly,so therefore he should face the music,Mr Buhari's statement is divisive just because he wants to score cheap political points this man should be in jail for treason charges.

Jonathan, Stella Odua, otedola , Fa -crook, Desiani - Clark , Fani Kayode, and a host of others should have been in jail all these years. Don't try to be clever. You are a thug and working for your daily drugs should not involve any intellect.

For seeing the truth and deliberately turning against it you should be the one to face treasonable charges in a sane society. May your laundry never dry. May your kettle never boil and may your axe never cut for deliberately supporting falsehood and criminality . angry

The truth must be said and i will say this.. The current Government has failed in handing the issues concerning Corruption, crime, Petroleum subsidy theft, EFCC died when they took over power, no politician has been dealt with since they came into power, the country in running on debt, and they are planning to go and borrow $1Billion to buy arms to fight BOKO HARAM instead of them telling us the truth that they want to borrow money for the upcoming election. I will love to educate Nigerians, Before GEJ took over from Late president Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, Nigeria was having a foreign reserve to to tune of $500million, all those money wen into thin air, power generation has been the reason for all those money spent and yet we have no light in our various homes. The petroleum subsidy that was a common man's happiness has been taking away in order to shy away of corruption, up till date we still don't have kerosene in our filling station but we are all clamoring with sentiment and cheat our self for leaders who do not think about us at all. Our lecturer are always on strike everyday we don't attend schools, people are dying in the hospitals because they are not paying attention to our doctor demands, Ex corrupt Governor are been given presidential pardons after stealing money made for the people, i stand to say that this people are fooling us.......

why do we need them to continue to rule us when we have seen no changes for the last 15 Years of democratic government.

We need a change in the federal level to know the difference of who had ruled better may when they come back to power then they will know that they have to keep their head tight and work so we won't vote them out again...........
