Asari Dokubo needs to stand up, and
stand above pettiness. Stupidity shouldn't
be an epidemic. While the Arewa Youth
Forum, whatever their motivation, can say
anything, it pains when a guy whose
resilience and courage arouse the
consciousness of most Niger Delta
youths on national politics now resort to
theatricals. I have story for him.
Once upon a time, a good many years
ago, a governor of a region was provoked
and he upgraded himself from "a
governor" to "the leader" of the region
under a different arrangement. Elders
watched him with suspicion. His
colleagues never trusted him. Not that he
didn't mean well, but people felt he
crowned himself. The rest is history.
On Arewa Youth Forum. The voice of this
group is the voice of few individuals who
derive their social existence from certain
"big men". These "big men", by their
antecedents, are possessed by aims and
objectives that are patently personal.To
square up with such a youth group, using
language plainly defined by threats and
intimidation, is to make a mess of one's
trumpeted royal heritage. Is Asari
listening?
