Superstar007: Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has cancelled Eid festivities marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan next week after a deadly church bombing and a female suicide bomber’s attempt to attack a university, an official said Sunday.

A statement issued by the Emir reads: "Given the critical situation we are in,
the royal highness (of Kano state, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) has suspended all festivities associated with the eminence including the Durbar and other traditional events that are held during the Eid festival,” an aide to the emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, told AFP.

Ahead of this year’s Sallah celebrations, the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar has placed police operatives in all commands and formations across the country on red alert.

Force spokesman, ACP Frank Mba, made this known yesterday in a statement in which the IGP directed the command commissioners of police to personally supervise the special security deployment and ensure a 24-hour surveillance of their respective areas of operations.

According to Mba, the IGP stressed that maximum attention should be paid to critical public places and other points prone to enemy attack and ordered the command commissioners to retool their security infrastructures in line with their local security realities.

“As part of efforts to ensure hitch-free Sallah celebrations, the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar has ordered effective and extensive deployment of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force and other special operatives, as well as all necessary logistics to all nooks and crannies of the country.

“The IGP, in a directive issued to all commands and formations of the Force, directs command commissioners of police and other field commanders across the country to ensure that no stone is left unturned in making sure that adequate security is provided in their various areas of jurisdiction.

“Stressing that maximum attention should be paid to critical public places and other points prone to enemy attack, the IGP orders the command commissioners of police to retool their security infrastructures in line with their local security realities.

Am not blaming the security agencies, they are trying their best but nigerians are not making it easier for them.

Almost every church have security agencies guarding their premises, this reduces the remaining officers that would be deployed to mosques,the zoo and the street.

Who knows? Maybe the security agencies guarding the catholic church that was bombed today, were among those that rushed to the mosque to diffuse the bomb leaving the church susceptible to the attack

I am sure the key reason why sanusi desperately grabbed emir position is to avoid persecutions for his deeds as the head of the apex bank.Emirship is for life and as long as he wears those robes,i dont think any nigerian laeder with the mindset of present leaders will dare bring him to book.I am not saying he is guilty of anything yet,but he needs to give accurate accounts about all his finacial dealigs as the haed of the apex bank.

Why does this Sanusi of an emir keep earning my respect? He seems to know what to not do knowing the situation on ground, he suspended all festivities. Some leaders will go ahead anyway even if people were killed. Respect to HRH.
