Group Says Osun School Buses Belong To SURE-P by Nobody: 3:17pm On Jul 30, 2014
The Better Leadership Awareness
Group has said that the
Omoluwabi Scholar Buses
inaugurated by the Osun State
Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola,
were not purchased by the state
government but the Federal
Government.
The Public Relations Officer of the
BLAG, Mr. Taiwo Ajao, said this in
a statement made available to
our correspondent in Osogbo on
Tuesday.
The group accused the governor
of insincerity, saying Aregbesola
ought to have inscribed SURE-P
project on the buses instead of
claiming that the state
government provided them.
Ajao also faulted the governor
for asking the pupils to pay N40
fare per trip on any of the buses.
He said that after telling the
people of the state that the bus
service would be free,
Aregbesola turned round to ask
the pupils to pay N40.
He said, “The school buses that
were recently presented by the
state government for
transportation of school pupils
were products of the Federal
Government project through the
SURE-P, which was converted by
Governor Rauf Aregbesola as his
own project.
“This may be targeted to make
economic gains by taxing pupils
to pay after giving the public an
impression that the bus will be
free.
“There is even ambiguity in his
speech because he said pupils
would pay N40 to and fro
without explaining if N40 fare is
for one way trip or for a return
trip.”
The group spokesperson said a
trip on mini buses in the state
known as ‘korope’ was N30,
adding that charging the already
impoverished pupils an
exorbitant fare was the height of
insensitivity.
Ajao said that leaders who were
elected into public offices were
holding such positions in trust
for the people and they should
be transparent in the way they
ran the affairs affecting the lives
of the people.
The Commissioner for
Information, Mr. Sunday Akere,
when contacted, said the group
was sent by the Peoples
Democratic Party to discredit the
state government.
He, however, said that the people
who were beneficiaries of the
project were appreciative of the
love the governor had for the
masses whose children were the
ones the buses conveyed.
He said, “Is SURE-P not our
constitutional entitlement? Even
if the buses were bought with
SURE-P funds, the money is
raised from allocations due to
the state.
“It is our entitlement. Osun can
decide to do whatever it likes
with the money. What did they
use all the money which accrued
to them when they were around
for almost eight years for?
“The group and the PDP, which
sent them, should face the
problem confronting them.
Aregbesola is using Osun funds
for the benefit of Osun people.”

Why are pole so gullible. FG that have systematically reduce and delay Osun monthly allocation and delay till the ffwg month (June just paid), but the state government had even paid July salary.

Osun PDP corners SURE-P for itselve. Private individuals that applied with good credit were denied would allow Aregbe to have access to that fund. That would have been the miracle of the century.

They should come out and say what they've achieved with SURE-P in Osun. (PDP are thieves and armed robbers).

Would PDP fund a system they are shouting is bad?

The commissioner was right. Does it not belong to us all? We all pay for fuel. Shouldn't we benefit from it? with their attrocities at the top, they are dazed by that man's peformance.

Finally, only a fool would believe a fool because they think alike. O'School bus was from that remnant of the pilfered allocation they send to us.

It is not possible, FG can't release the fund for Osun. The commissioner is right is it not our money?. What exactly is your stand?
