Respect The President Group Cautions The Opposition by johnmartus(m): 1:52pm On Jul 31, 2014 |
A group, the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), has cautioned the opponents of President Goodluck Jonathan against desecrating and demeaning the number one office in the land in the name of political opposition. The Coordinator of the legal department of the group, Mr. Nureni Otutu, said this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital yesterday. "It is only in Nigeria that an individual or group of individuals will hurl insults on the person of the nation's President and get away with it. Yes there is freedom of speech, but then this freedom should be exercised with decorum, decency and respect." Otutu said the office of the president is a sacred one that is bigger than any individual or group, which he insisted must be respected and revered at all times. He said he was very disappointed in those that are master-minding the attacks on the president, which he noted betrays their bloated ego. He commended the president for the good job he has made of his four years mandate, pointing out that "the outstanding performance of the president is the bond between TAN, the president and Nigerian masses, because this group is out to promote good governance at all levels with the aim of making life easier and better for Nigerians." According to him, "President Jonathan is a personification of quality leadership in humility. He has brought decency into the administration of the country, the result of which is landmark accomplishment in almost all the sectors of the economy." Meanwhile, in another development, TAN pledged that it has unveiled plans to roll out more than one million jobs within the next one year in its efforts to better the lives of Nigerians in line with President Jonathan's transformation agenda. According to the group's Director of Research, Dr .Aminu Sanni, TAN intends to achieve the feat through the proposed six industrial parks/cities in each of the six geo-political zones in the country in a space of 12 months. Sanni said the project would take off in no distant time as part of the packages and programmes in appreciation of the great achievements of President Jonathan through his transformation agenda. He urged Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of the president's administration by contributing to remedy the plight of the downtrodden, women and the restive youths nationwide. "In TAN, we believe in what President Jonathan has achieved in education, oil and gas, roads, sports, aviation, women empowerment, and agriculture that are there for everybody to see. They have to be appreciated by the citizens. In TAN we believe that we have to appreciate Jonathan by contributing to the cause of the welfare of the people and by so doing the country will certainly get better," Sanni stressed. Source |
