Secretariat of the National Conference on Saturday morning announced it received with great grief news about the demise of Prof. Muhammad Nur Alkali, who was one of the six delegates representing the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the 2014 National Conference in Abuja. According to report, Alkali died in his residence in Maiduguri, Borno State on the night of Friday at the age of 68 years. Alkali was Professor of History and two-term Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri between 1985 and 1992. He was Director-General of the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies and Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee under the administration of late General Sani Abacha.
