The root of the problem...

At the last meeting chaired by the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. M.B. Ahmad, with the deputy governors of the two states and a representative of the surveyor general of the federation in attendance, it was noted that the Anambra/Kogi interstate boundary was the boundary of the former Northern and Eastern regions described in the legal notice No 126 of 1954.

However, the people of Kogi were said to be insisting that despite the demarcated boundary between the old Kabba and old Onitsha provinces, the oil deposits in Omambala River belong to them. [Vanguard]

After 3yrs of insult, Ibo is yet to be pushed to the wall....

The people of Aguleri, Anambra State of South-East Nigeria, have cried out over the invasion of their villages by neighbouring Kogi State in the country’s North-Central region.

“They have sacked two of our villages as at yesterday. They have also burnt our schools and churches as at yesterday. WE cannot hold Easter service or celebrate Easter feast with our love ones in that part of Aguleri,” Phil Chinwuba Esq., General Secretary Aguleri Foundation of UK, lamented last night.

According to Chinwuba, “The Igwe of Aguleri, HRH Igwe C.N Idigo has asked the COP (Commissioner of Police) of Anambra State and The Army Area Commander, how long will Aguleri fold their hands and watch Kogi State invade Aguleri with suspected Boko Haram Militants. WE have received no answers.”

The Aguleri Foundation of UK General Secretary warned that their patience was being over-stretched and could snap at any time. Below is an excerpt of a message he posted to several online communities on the issue:

“I wish to inform NdiIgbo that contrary to stupid statements by some people: that Aguleri people are capable of defending themselves, our properties, our women, elderly and children. WE have done it in the past against most of our aggressive neighbours and the result is self evident of our powers to rise to the occasion when pushed to the walls.

“We have held back in this instant case because we knew what the game plan of Kogi state and their govt are and we have refused to fall into their traps.

“Before the great floods of last year, The National Boundary Commission and the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation acting on the committee set up by the President headed by the Vice President submitted a recommendation on the issue for proper boundary demarcation to the President taking into consideration all historical and legal facts of the land in question and occupation. The President authorised a physical inspection of the land, Anambra, Enugu and Kogi States govt were duly represented including representatives from the affected towns including Aguleri and Igala people. During the physical inspection, at a stage the Igala people pulled out of the exercise b/c their facts were not adding up, they refused to participate further till date. The exercise could not continue and attempts at re-starting it were further hampered by the great floods.

“The recent attacks by Kogi State govt on Aguleri people were very well planned at a time our people were returning to settle down after the floods.

“The Nigerian Army personnel were only guiding the Orient Oil facilities. Kogi State govt has continued to push mobs into Aguleri Otu as they have continue to arrive in lorries with heavy weapons.

“They have sacked two of our villages as at yesterday. They have also burnt our schools and churches as at yesterday. WE cannot hold Easter service or celebrate Easter feast with our love ones in that part of Aguleri.

“The Igwe of Aguleri, HRH Igwe C.N Idigo has asked the COP of Anambra State and The Army Area Commander, how long will Aguleri fold their hands and watch Kogi State invade Aguleri with suspected Boko Haram Militants. WE have received no answers.

“Kogi State’s plan was to cause a war with Aguleri so that Federal Govt would declare that area and place it under Emergency Rule. Kogi State plan were for the Army to open fire on them as they have been touting the army officers sent to protect Orient Oil facilities. These are open verifiable facts.  Such action would stop the activities of Orient Oil and Aguleri people use of their land for farming and fishing. This is simply the core reason, Aguleri do not wish to fight back in the unholy and wanton destruction of our properties and uncalled aggression laced with hatred for what is not Kogi State land.

“Therefore, we have resorted on calling on the Federal Govt to restrain Kogi State govt and her people. They should leave Aguleri land b/c we cannot continue to fold our hands for fear of Emergency Rule. Kogi State govt cannot get an inch of our land by aggression and they are not capable of intimidating Aguleri.

“WE wish to make it abundantly clear to the Federal Govt that unless they restrain Kogi State govt, Aguleri people would have no other alternative than to use any means necessary to defend ourselves. “Our endurance has been tested to the limit and there is limit to what we can take from these uncircumcised bandits.

“WE have sent our cry for help to almost all the media houses in Nigeria.  We have also sent an email to the Nigeria Ambassador in UK. If the Federal Govt does not act to stop Kogi State, Aguleri will stop them.”

....Ibo is a restrained coward

Visiting the victims at a private hospital in Onitsha where they were receiving treatment, the Anambra State Governor, Mr Willie Obiano, appealed to the people of Aguleri to remain calm as the Anambra State and Kogi State governments have initiated measures to bring enduring solution to the incessant attacks of Anambra border communities by Kogi people.

The victims, who were lying in varying critical condition and could barely speak, told the Governor that unknown gunmen invaded the community from Kogi State on Monday afternoon in an aggressive attack on fishermen and farmers who were at work shooting sporadically.

Three people were gunned down while eight of them sustained gunshot wounds.

Addressing a crowd that gathered at the hospital, the Governor enjoined everybody to remain calm as the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, had apologized to the state over the unfortunate incident and warned the youths of the state to desist from such unwarranted and unprovoked aggression.

Governor Willie Obiano also directed that the victims be transferred to St. Charles Borromeo Hospital for adequate treatment with the Government bearing every cost.

He stressed that the attack had nothing to do with the oil production in the area.

The official language and culture in Ilorin is Yoruba. Go and tell Ijaw in PortHarcourt to speak Ibo and see how quick he drowns you in his swamp....after confiscating your house and properties.

Kogi is about to own the oil in Aguleri. Are you aware Yorubas are majority in Kogi and are about to benefit from the windfall of petrodollar in Aguleri?

This should be your headache, not Ilorin!

Say hie to the emir of Yorubas in Illorin for me.
With history of Afonja the rat, and Alimi, the malicious Fulani teacher, you're not even in a position to complain and compare loss of property in PH for a few years to the Yorubas loosing Illorin for ever and ever.
The Ogonis, Ijaws, and Efiks never claimed to be Igbos from day one, so what's your headache? Bad history lesson

Yorubas own the land of Ilorin. Fulani own the throne only. The Emir of Ilorin and all his palace officials speak Yoruba. In fact his middle name is Yoruba.

Ijaws took over all your land on the coast and sacked you inland the way Ibaji is sacking you from oil grounds in Aguleri. Your language is lost for ever and ever from the coast. Your people in Rivers are even disclaiming you. The people of Aguleri are soon going to disclaim you and deny their Igboness when the pressure and heat get to their spirit. Ibaji will make that happen soon.

Listen to your self. Yorubas who own the land of Illorin will never be kings of their land, perpetual second class citizens, or more aptly, slaves in their own land. And you still get mouth to come here to talk about Igbos. Go and remove the log in your eyes first.

Igbos causing trouble since 1960. When will all this end? It's apparent that the area belong to the Igalas, but Igbos with their penchant of taken over people's lands and properties is a well documented fact. Imagine someone called the Igalas boko haram cos they wouldn't give up over their land. That's the characteristic of a typical igbo man, always on the look out to pull you down or tie you to some prejudice, biase and stereotype judgement ordinary, it makes them feel good and superior. With this oil money, no doubt, the woes of kogi has come to an end. I forsee a dubai like state if the money is well managed.
