kobonaire: 43 year old has been refereeing for 25 years? So that means he decided upon a career of refereeing at the young age of 18!! That's amazing to make such a decision when most want to play the game rather than officiate. He was a police, refereeing is a voluntary job in England. 1 Like |

majamajic: He was a police, refereeing is a voluntary job in England.thanks, I did not know that. I am surprised they do not even give them(referees) a stipend .... after all EPL make millions!! Also with Webb being a policeman, it means if a player is violent, he can issue a red card and then after the game he can also arrest the player for violent conduct 1 Like |

I 1st knew Howard Webb when he refereed in d match btw Nigeria nd Chile at d 2007 under-20 world cup.The match ws 0-0 afta 90mins,and within 30mins of xtra Chile had scored 4 goals. The next day,Complete Sports' headline ws 'Egunje referee robs Nigeria',or smtn lyk dat. Egunje=bribe. Nice ref anyway,he ws very strict whch ws why I liked him. |
