@OP, salt solution is effective against not only worms but also bacteria, viruses and fungi. This is due to the oxidizing effect of hypochlorite formed when NaCl is dissolved in water(let's not go into details). Having said that, i believe the targets of the originators of the 'salt bath' advice are people in the villages and the poor, who don't have access to or cannot afford the normal disinfectants like detol, izal etc. However, PEOPLE SHOULD NOT GO ON A SALT DRINKING SPREE AS THIS COULD LEAD TO AN EPIDEMIC OF HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE THEREBY WORSENING OUR HEALTH SITUATION.
