Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress, APC was shoving aside a stiff challenge from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s Senator Iyiola Omisore as early results from Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Osun State trickled in. Early returns showed Aregbesolato to be leading in many areas of Osogbo, Ede and Ilesa with Omisore showing good lead in Ife and in some wards across the state. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/aregbesola-early-lead As former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, lost in the polling unit in Okuku Ward of Odo-Otin Local Government Area. The All Progressives Congress lost to the Peoples Democratic Party. In Oyinlola’s ward, APC scored 61 votes while PDP garnered 125. Oyinlola voted in Unit 3, Ward 1 at his Okuku home town. It will be recalled that Oyinlola, former PDP secretary, defected to APC few days to the election. Also, former APC Chairman, Bisi Akande also lost at the polling unit where he voted. Akande, who was also a former governor of Osun State voted at Ise Odo Unit Ila Orangun. At the unit, APC had 93 while PDP got 97 votes. http://www.punchng.com/news/oyinlola-akande-lose-polling-units-to-pdp/ |
