Zoologist thinking. Zoology, microbiology, botany graduates are all people who could not meet the required scores to study medicine. A superiorly mediocre student like gej, who could not find employment outside of a university. I smell no brain and bad belle. 1 Like |

dotuna3: I think Mr president decision is as a result of the present pressure he has with the health sector especially with the Ebola virus. I think the doctors also shld help. I don't think with dis out break our doctors shld be on strike at all. I mean for what reason would they go on strike wen they knw hw challenging this Ebola virus is. LASUTH had an Ebola scare on Monday, someone even created a thread about it. Do you know what your govt did? THEY GAVE THE WHOLE OF LASUTH ONLY 3 BIOHAZARD SUITS TO USE. For a teaching hospital....with staff of over 300....in a medical crisis that kills medical staff more than random people on the road... YOU ARE SUPPORTING THAT?!! Forget having to travel to India for treatment, India will lock its borders to Nigeria (as will several countries) once this virus gets out of hand. Don't you realise that out of all the health workes who met the Liberians, the doctors took the most precaution, treated themselves and quarantined early, and are surviving?? The $8.1mil GEJ shouted he has shared for Virus outbreak, didn't they send only $1mil to Lagos (the only state with confirmed cases got the least). Abi no be LASG who immediately declared each isolation ward cost N20mil?? Profit-in-disaster No doctor wants to resume as they haven't been provided with hazmat suits, nurses in a lot of hospitals are codedly turning away patients who have any fever symptoms. GEJ till when Nigerians have been wiped out to too few to complain about bad governance , because you truly don't deserve better 13 Likes |

What a silly action? Anyone that has been in teaching hospital knows that resident doctors do 70% of the work. Locum doctors can never be as good as the resident doctors. I expect more avoidable deaths in our hospitals. When Nigerians understand the implication of the decision, they will rise to action. Who will take over from those old consultants when they retire? jjwaterfalls: On my own point of view , for once am in support of GEJ's decision. I think his plan is a way of throwing confusion into d NMA so dat dey can come to dia senses dt dia demAndS ar unrealistic. But come to think of it why will doctors put money ahead of peoples lives, dey arent bothered becos I guess dey ar still receiving salary. It is rilly unfair. Ar dey d only workerS exposed to hlth hazardS? Wat abt d nurse who is with d pt 24hrs why didn't dey say dey want to die? Wat abt d lab scientistss and oda hlth workers?. Don't mind dem, som idio.ts are so used to criticisin wateva GEJ does dat dey don't even hav time to tink outside d box. I tink dis is a gud move by d FG 7 Likes |

phantom: the plan is to suspend residency->NARD can't vote at the next NMA edm->strike is called off->suspension is then lifted. masterstroke!'NARD' has few votes at EDM, state NMAs ( dominated by resident doctors and products of NARD) constitute majority of delegates at EDM, they will vote as ' members of NMA' not as members of 'NARD' 1 Like |

[quote author=Profayo]Some people are so ignorant of the hippocratic oath,as if the oath says medical doctors should not be paid. They say doctors put money before patients,so doctors should not be collecting salary abi? For your information, doctors spend more time with patients than the time they spend with their own family, yet some fools says doctors are not commited. The only way a doctor makes up for the time away from their family is what they bring home at the end of the month for all the time they spent attending to others, yet some fool says doctors put money ahead of patients.Fashola packed mad people on the streets,he forgot some are online.[/q Quote] #gbam! 2 Likes |

warrior01: Some are useless. But others are very worthwhile, CMD of First Consultant is a diamond (he's so good). Why do you think those doctors re still alive, 3 weeks after? It was doctors that said to govt "go to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo state and get their medical staff to train Lagos public health workers. Those guys are trained in how to handle Lassa fever (which is very similar to ebola in symptoms and infection rate), so they will teach us sharply, because everyone is scared". Even Irrua is not ready to handle ebola, the same govt that let measles and other viral vaccines finish in the country (so we are now at risk of contracting Yellow Fever, which is worse than ebola because it is mosquitoes that transfer it), the same govt cannot maintain isolation wards in either LUTH, Mainland or Irrua, that cannot fund Prof Iwu's research for years or even medical education, the same govt with the highest paid Senators in the world, and 9 private jets in the Presidential fleet, una dey support? If you knew what I knew! You would be staying home, praying in tears for 42 days to pass with no new infection. If not for doctors, the Liberian called his Ambassador who then called his "big men in Naija govt" to release him from First Consultant. Only the doctors stood firm and said until his PCR test came back, no release. Else, we would be at 50 infected people by now. This is NOT the time to say "No money or no morale", give doctors and nurses ANYTHING THEY WANT (short-term) and start shoring up the Medical health education in the country which is so poor longterm. Only LUTH can accurately diagnose Ebola, half the professors in uni have never used the machine. That is what doctors are fighting for. And hazard pay of N5000? Will you take even one bag of rice to his family once he gets infected? I'm not a doctor but I've been so demoralised seeing FG's true nature about this outbreak. I and a friend were going to donate hand sanitisers in July to GH in Lagos, see how everyone who heard was thanking me. Ordinary hand sanitiser, we don't have in hospitals fighting a viral outbreak. LUTH is given millions and yet, their ECG machine will catch fire when patient is inside and your president will send his wife to Germany for months for treatment rather than subject her to what he subjects you to. And you support him. No accountablilty or responsibility from govt, so the board too, loots. Osanobua, it is truly the rich who can afford to leave this country that are fighting for good governance. GEJ till America pities Nigeria and sends 10 bottles of Zmapp that una will fight over, out of fear and desperation 21 Likes |

I have said it before in my other post; the Drs are cheats. We have seen several posts here on NL from supposed Drs who are happy and comfortable being on strike and the reasons are not far fetched. 1. They are getting paid (with tax payers money) for staying at home. 2. They cut jobs at one private hospital or the other. 3. 70percent of them are incompetent and unprofessional. Though am not a fan of GEJ but am with him on this one (though am sure it will be reversed). If the Drs must go on strike at any time for whatever reason, the helpless patients (masses) should not be the only one at the receiving end, they (Drs) should sacrifice something as well which include forfeiting their salaries for as long as they stay off work. "No pain, No gain" they say. 11 Likes |
