And you are a Dr.?

You write so badly and make disgusting sense too.

Please work on yourself and stop disgracing the esteemed medical profession.

Note: Same goes to your likes that liked your posts.

You've seen nothing yet..wait till he writes a prescription for you. In every 10 resident doc..you find 8 like him. Na God save them hioo..some of them should be working for YemKem or Emiola Naturalist care

bushdoc9919: Here are some random thoughts about the strike (apologies to T.Sowell,American economist ).

1.It seems that most of the Nurses, pharmacists and others are a bit envious of the doctors. There is nothing that stops the nurses, pharm,et al from advancing themselves. When last I checked, JOHESU members could advance themselves academically. Grumbling about doctors preventing them from advancing sounds very, very inferiorist.

2.My fellow doctors should learn that they must not always be the head. The doctor is of course the head of the clinical team. But the hospital can be headed by anyone....so long as x is a good administrator (As Deng Xiaoping once said....it doesn't matter if the cat is black or white...so long as it catches mice,it is a good cat.). And so long as the consultant nurse does not countermand clinical orders by the consultant doctor....then there is no reason to oppose consultantcy for nurses.

3.It seems that JOHESU members think little of the job they do. By their attitude, they are insinuating that unless they are ''as the doctors are'' they will be on top. Strikes me that most JOHESU members are not happy in their job....which leads me to the fact that in this country....most people are not passionate about their jobs.Even the doctors too....must we be on top to feel fulfilled? Must we earn high salaries that our government cannot afford to feel OK(More on that later.) Back to JOHESU....why do you think so lowly about yourselves? A Nurse does a great job....just because it ain't doctoring, or because you do not get the respect that a doctor gets....does not mean that you should feel so inferior.YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR.

4.Seems to me that a lot of the noise made about this strike wouldn't have been raised if JOHESU gave a clear definition about who a consultant nurse/pharma/physio/radiologist/etc does. They did not...and that ratcheted up the crisis.Right now....I do not have a clear idea about what a consultant nurse is supposed to do. Lack of clarity is the mother of confusion

5.Our health care system is in a shambles because the government runs far too many hospitals for the budget to sustain all of them.As a result....the hospitals are in a shambles.Leaving us with these solutions.

a) Either the government increases funding for health DRASTICALLY or

b) We raise hospital fees in all hospitals....or we run all teaching hospitals AS public-private,or fully private entities.

Thing is, if we want fully equipped, well running hospitals....we have to pay for them. Either option is feasible.(We also have to improve power and water supply urgently....no hospital works well without a good power supply)

NMA and JOHESU should fight for option A. And that starts by fighting for an increase in spending for health to 30% of the budget. Or we take option B(My favorite....but too expensive for most).

6.Funding has to be improved for training. We have too few doctors, too few specialists, and too few nurses, pharmacists, etc. Funding for training has to be ramped up...so that we can have more medical people around. Especially in the area of specialist training.

7.It seems most Nigerians have a poor idea of what doctors do. We do not treat malaria and typhoid. We treat a wide variety of diseases....including diabetes, infectious diseases, hypertension, neurologic disorders, stroke, pain, kidney diseases, etc. We try our best, despite the poor conditions we work in, and despite the limited facilities we have to work with. And no matter how much you hate me as a doctor.....I will always love you, and I will try to always be there for you, regardless.

These are just some of my thoughts.

At which point, I would like to close by calling on NMA and JOHESU to fight for Universal Health Insurance and increased funding for health. We may never have that chance again. Our health system is in crisis. Time we forgot about childish things.

Re-read your post and see how bias you are. I really don't know why u or some folks think health professionals are not proud of their jobs. This is not true and u know it. Most health professionals love what they do and very proud of it. But what happens is that an average Dr in Nigeria is not happy that Nurse X or Pharmacist B are earning Y amount of salary. They beleive govt is overpaying other health prof. So Dr become dissatisfied with their own wages. They by virtue of their position suppress others, will negotiate wages and like to stay back to tell govt what to pay others. They have done this for years until the days of President Yaradua of blessed memory, that gave birth to CONMESS and CONHESS. Both are salary scale for physicians and health professionals. Both made provision for Consultant position and how to renumerate individuals designated as such.
Dr are not happy at this very normal progress because other health professionals are beneficiaries. It is like walking with a friend who wants to see your face but never happy with your progress. So JOHESU was born to protect others from what look like common enemy who is always happy at your Dow fall and love to call out strike when u succeed.

NMA overstretched their relevance by going on strike because the govt was set to obey the court ruling on consultancy and directorship. NMA wanted the govt to disobey court ruling and set aside the rule of law. They behaved so foolishly and unintelligently by insisting on reversal of court judgment extra judicially. No govt will do that.

Ebola outbreak shld be a safe face and reason to call off the unnecessary strike, they failed bc of desperation and hatred they have against health professionals. Govt mustdo tthe needful. He that hire can fire.

I know the strike would be hurriedly called off. Over dribbling has inventually destroyed the NMA mislead by overzealous NARD.

NMA went on strike with very outdate and weak weaponry........ NMA is not a union.... so cannot approach court for redress on any union matters...... Govt knew this and took advantage of it..........Court ruling is court ruling..... It takes court of high jurisprudence to up turn it. Not the govt or big men in the Senate.

NMA can now swallow its pride in shame.
Unfortunately 80percent of those demands will die a naturally death as NMA struggle for call back of its members.

Your case is rather pathetic.

The mere fact that you have the impudence to re-emerge out of the woodwork after making crass statements just days ago, says it all.

Better give your lilliputian self-esteem some makeover. Or else how do I place the vacuous pride at being quoted?

If you had taken to comedy, I am sure you would have given the likes of Mr Ibu, Baba Suwe, Osuofia and Basketmouth and co. a run for their money.

If I remember vividly, I used a figure of speech to draw a parallel between the conduct of NARD/NMA and the attendant partisan implications.

Next thing, you went to town with a badly thought out inference that I equated NMA to APC, just to amuse yourself.

When I exhorted you to put things in proper perspective, you did a Ben Johnson...

I don't think you read my post properly. You only saw the bits where I had a go at JOHESU....and you did not read the parts where I called for improved training, as well as expressed .....well, read it again.Especially points 2,3 and 5.

And for me...this is not about the salary. It never was about the salary. It is about eventually improving our health care system....which is why I urge you to focus on the last bit of the post......where I call for NMA and JOHESU to fight for improved health care in this country. Improved funding....means that we get to train more medical people....docs,nurses,pharmacists, et al. It also means that we get better facilities.

And that is the important issue.

b) We raise hospital fees in all hospitals....or we run all teaching hospitals AS public-private,or fully private entities.

Good point.

McStoic: I have observed many of our so called docs here......I hereby give my award. dradebayo is the most cultured among them, though he seems to have a thing against 12 year olds. Phantom aka Phanty bobo seems to be a guy who grew up among market woman, he latter mixed with guys but try as he may, the frequent Freudian slips get the better of him......though I like him for one thing, he seems able to come to reason once in a rare while. Sainty2k3 is simply a tag along. He is that student who sits at the back of the class among bigger boys just to feel important. Say a simple thing and he will start asking derailing questions even when others have moved on to another topic. Dumodust is self explanatory, a mixture of dumbtiness and muscles, he walks around with a knuckle duster.........He will make a good bouncer to Phantom since ass licking is his exclusive preserve nay natural talent. Likita is trying to imitate what others are doing, he needs a sense of belonging just like Dumodust. Armadeo is a learner etc...... Pardon if I wasn't gracious enough to recognize you. Maybe next time.

dont you worry child, there's still time for you to grow and get a brain, e go still better for you.... I repeat again, be proud of whatever you are and stop beefing those that are fortunately way ahead of you in all spheres, you will know them by the infantile ways they resort to insults during discussions when its not going as planned.... poop poor child.,ndo

See beef!!!later they ll be shoutg international best practices

The Joint Health Sector Workers Union (JOHESU), Delta state chapter has urged the federal government to redesign the residency program in a manner that it will no longer create unnecesary crisis as is being experienced currently.

Comrade Anthony Ashiedu, Chairman o f the state chapter, while reacting in respect to the suspencison of the residency training programme in all federal health institutions by the federal government said "Government should employ them as medical officers, let them go to school like other healthcare professionals do, to acquire post graduate studies and pay thier fees by themselves.

This is what we have been kicking against. Government is training them and paying them salaries at the same time, yet they join hands with consultants and doctors to abuse government, holding the country to ransom as they like

Describing thier actions as the one who bites the fingers that feed it, comrade Ashiedu however called on the resident doctors to show remorse
