1. Terrorism

Definition: By terrorism, I'm referring to the systematic use of terror that is often violent in nature to create fear. This is usually done against a religious group or a political group.

Overview: Terrorism in Nigeria has taken it's toil deeper in the root. As of the present it is the nation's greatest threat disguised in the Jihadist Islamic group Boko Haram. The group alone has destroyed thousands of lifes and properties worth billions of naira. If there is one thing that any peace loving Nigerian pray for, it's for the elimination of the group.

2. Corruption

Definition: By corruption, I'm referring to the dishonest or fraudulent conducts practice by those in power,

Overview: Ignoring the fact that Nigeria isn't among the most corrupt countries in the world, very few can stand otherwise. Rationally, 80% of Nigerians believe the country is corrupt and 90% of them are corrupt. Explosive cases of suspicious past corrupt practises include the 2010 election saga, James Ibori's looting saga, Abachi's saga, ASUU strike saga etcetera.

3. Bribery

Definition: Simply referring to the act of giving or accepting of bride in order to influence a decision directly or indirectly.

Overview: The most annoying thing about bribery in Nigeria is that it's fast becoming a norm. And another thing is that the government is reluctant to punish severely those caught in the act. Trending places include the admission systems in education, high way patrol officers and governmental employing agencies.

4. Tribalism

Definition: A way of thinking or behaving in which people are more loyal to their tribe than to their friends, their country, or any other social group.

Overview: We may not be aware at the conscious level of the influence tribalism has on us, but then, it's slowly killing us on the inside. Tribalism is pervasive, and it controls a lot of our behavior, readily overriding reason. Say No to Tribalism.

5. Religion

Definition: This is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence.

Overview: Very few will agree to this but the history and scriptures of the world's religions tell stories of violence and war as they speak of peace and love. Religion [Ironically Islam as partaken to Nigeria] gives rise to personality cults that are indistinguishable from cults of religious hero worship and killing machines. Such example of known cult is the Boko Haram which terrorize the country daily in the name of RELIGION. Both cases of Islam and Christianity are posing a problem to the development of the country.

6. Illiteracy

Definition: This doesn't simply refer to the inability of one to read and write but also the provocative display of total lack of rational reasoning by an individual.

Overview The consequences of illiteracy are many and harmful in several respects. As well as affecting illiterate individuals themselves in their daily and future lives, this scourge has a significant effect on society, both socially and economically. 65% of Nigerians are illiterate.

7. Ethnicity

Definition: A general definition of ethnicity refers to ethnic group or groups that people identify with or feel they belong to. It's also the measure of cultural affiliation, as opposed to race, ancestry, nationality or citizenship.

Overview: Ethnicity in all is calling for a divided Nigeria. The extremists amongst us hate our unity, they want us to divide. Now Imagine a United Nigeria with one ethical value, language and culture? Incredible.

9. Dirty Politics

Definition:The keyword one should look here is DIRTY. Now this term in general can be outline as all unethical and illegal methods to gain political advantage and power.

Overview: Since God knows when, Nigerian sector has been paying dirty games. The politicians manipulate their ways into political offices and promote corruption. Now if only we can get rid of that, Imagine how it would be.

10. Ignorance

Definition By definition, Ignorance is lack of knowledge about a thing in a being capable of knowing.

Overview: The ‘I don't care attitude’ of Nigerians is slowly killing us on the inside. We play deaf and dumb to our political problems. We refuse to ask questions like -

Where is OUR missing money?
Where are the Chibok girls?
What about the refineries they promised Us?

We simply don't ASK!

The number one reason we're still groping in the dark and yet to reach our full potential is due to the faulty federal structure we operate, and too much power residing with the central gov't! Once you free all the regions/states to be component units of a true federation (with all that entails), this country would then start operating like a well oiled machine.....for the first time since 1914!

The retrogressive PDP is the main problem Nigerian has. Remove pdp from power, and 92% of Nigeria's problems will be solved.

The British are the only problem Nigeria is not working.
They cobbled up an unworkable contraption.
Just like they did with India. In India, the people quickly adjusted into India, pakistan and bangladesh(?).

But in Africa, all the European contraptions are still hobbled together.

My list includes;
1. APC
2. SAHARA REPORTERS
3. NORTHERN OLIGARCHY
4. SABOTEURS AMONGST CITIZENS
5. FEDERAL CHARACTER
6. POLITICS OF DESTRUCTIVE STRATEGY
7. TERRORISM AS A POLITICAL TOOL
8. CORRUPT SECURITY FORCES
9. FICTITIOUS UNITY AMONG NIGERIANS
10. OLUSEGUN OBASANJO AND HIS CRONIES

Take away these ten factors and leave Nigeria as she is now, we would have moved way ahead in terms of development. They know it, they can't just let it happen for some reasons noted above.

^^^Quit being an idiat!

So Ironsi instituted centralised system of gov't after the first coup; care to tell me why it's been retained in one form or the other ever since? Of course you will always find a way to blame Ndigbo......the fact that we still don't have a proper federation 48 years after an Igbo man was last in power! Is there some immutable natural law of the universe that says Ironsis action cannot be reversed?

The fact of the matter is that the unitary system of gov't has been retained ever since because 1) it's given whoever is in control of the center, control over the nations vast resources; 2) it's given whoever is in control of the center the ability to hold other regions/ethnic grps back so they don't advance too far and leave less capable ones behind; 3) it's given certain groups/regions the chance to continue with their feeding bottle mentality and misplaced sense of entitlement; 4) and, it's prevented the legitimate claims of the owners of resources from being actualized!

Not only the british, the whiteman as a whole. there was never any independence, no wonder the francophone african countries will laugh at us the anglophones countries claiming to be the giant of the colonies. we are still a colony. more than 80% of all nigerian profits, resources and produced is going to the whiteman. Aso rock gets all her instructions from all the european ambassadors in the country, different ambassador with his idea on how to benefit his own country. wonder why all the african leaders are so confused.

Orchestrated tribalism, ego, over ambition and self centeredness by the Igbos was the genesis of corruption, tribalism, robbery, regionalism and the love for money that spread to other region. I agree that the North was power hungry and was marginalising other region but a diplomatic and subtle approach could have contained and subdue their excesses. The fall out of the Biafra war amplified the gross vices that wasn't really a threat at that time. We started witnessing all manner of social ills after they Igbos were integrated into Nigeria. This remains contageous up till this present day.

Thanks! The bolded part above is answer enough to your question as to why it was retained. It's also the reason why Ironsi and his ibo advisers foisted this form of govt on us with even consulting us beforehand. It's for this reason also that you ibos were all for one nigeria even as it's obvious that your so-called potential nigerians especially from the north, hate your guts and want nothing whatsoever to do with you greedy covetous beings.

They slaughtered you lot with gusto to emphasis how much they dislike you ibos but yet you insisted on been one with them hoping that eventually you will outsmart them and enslave them in their own region. Afterall, they are not as educated and hence not clever as you guys. They had their first graduate in 1953! You have forgotten that one does need a masters degree in Human Biology to know when you are been sodomised.

After killing most of their leaders whom they have willingly chosen to look out for their interest in the new nation, you "smart" ibos now want the northerners to accept your own definition of "united" Nigeria. You thought, the ibo domination you promised us in 1949 was here but alas! you did not bank on the northerners paying you back in your own nasty coin.

Bottomline is, the ONLY reason why you guys wanted One Nigeria with the northerners was because you thought you can outsmart them and over-run their region but your insidious plans failed, ojukwu then 419 you emotional beings into fighting a secessionist war that you were not fully prepared for.
