Thursday- President Goodluck Jonathan launched the new national e-ID card at the Villa in Abuja. The card project which is a partnership with MasterCard, the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission and Access bank serves as a ID card and ATM card for cash transactions. A very close friend of mine who is a top banker was very correct when he told me last week about this ATM/ID card plan.
It not a very good idea to do this. I beleive National ID Cards are meant to be stand alone documents without collaboration with any corporate body.
