Thursday- President Goodluck Jonathan launched the new national e-ID card at the Villa in Abuja. The card project which is a partnership with MasterCard, the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission and Access bank serves as a ID card and ATM card for cash transactions. The first phase of the project will see 13million Nigerians issued the card while the next phase will target 100million Nigerians. [Gist Factory]

Why the expire date? Renewal fee will be attracted . Expire 8/19.

A very close friend of mine who is a top banker was very correct when he told me last week about this ATM/ID card plan.
It not a very good idea to do this. I beleive National ID Cards are meant to be stand alone documents without collaboration with any corporate body.

Can you back up with evidence that it is not a good idea? For the very first time since the 70s, we finally have a chance at National ID that works and even corporate companies are willing to put their reputation on the line for

Are you surprised? All documents usually have some form of expiry e.g bank cards, passport, rent lease

Those who designed the card have no brain, the pix on the card is supposed to be a passport photograph facing camera directory not sideways.
