Moscow doesn't want or intend to wade into any "large-scale conflicts," Putin insisted at a youth forum, state-run Itar-Tass reported. A few breaths later, he made the point that Russia is "strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces and our armed forces," making them more efficient and modernized.


"I want to remind you that Russia is one of the most powerful nuclear nations," the President said. "This is a reality, not just words."

He later warned, "We must always be ready to repel any aggression against Russia and (potential enemies) should be aware ... it is better not to come against Russia as regards a possible armed conflict."

The comments came the same day that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused NATO of using "images from computer games" to -- in his view -- falsely make the case that Russian troops are in Ukraine. Lavrov said "hiding the evidence is an outstanding characteristic of the U.S. and many EU countries" with regard to Ukraine.

The thing is, many in the West don't believe much of anything coming out of Russia.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Friday that -- whatever the Kremlin says -- the reality is Russian troops are inside the Ukraine and have fired on Ukrainian military positions.

"Those denials are completely without credibility," Earnest said.

Why put the lives of millions of Russians at risk when they are not at risk in the first place? I don't know why some people allow leaders with suicidal tendencies rule them...

Russia has vast amount of gas and natural resources. She has the potential to be an economic giant if she gets rid of corruption. She has a permanent seat in UN security council and most countries that aren't in tune with US look up to her. With all these privileges, why the sudden aggression and brandishing of nuclear weapons like it's a knife?

All i know is that no sane country would dare start a nuclear war. Each wieldin nuclear power helps keep the other at bay...

Russia is the balance equation in today's world that the Americans want to ruin.

Russia never invaded Ukraine, the osce monitoring team in both Ukraine and Russia has said that there is nothing of such yet NATO and obama keeps on pressing Russia looking for away to isolate Russia but it is not working.

They are doing all this in preparation for their long planned invasion of Syria to remove Assad under the guise of fighting ISIS which is a direct creation of the United States.

EU is blindly following Obama even when they are the BIG Losers. At the end of all this mess, Russia will come out stronger and more self dependent while the EU and Ukraine will be the BIG losers. Ukraine is already down and no one wants them again.

When America instigated the coup in Ukraine, their target was Crimea but with Crimea gone back to Russia, Ukraine is now useless to the west and all this gra gra is to see if they can make Putin allow them take Crimea.

I don't know if russia troops are in Ukraine or not because I'm not there to confirm. One thing is Sure *PUTIN IS NOT SCARED* and this scare the poo outta EU and America. He gives the impression of a guy who would quite happily push the red button in order to kick-start a nuclear holocaust just so he would be remembered in history as the guy who started an actual Nuclear war forgetting there would be no one left alive to know about it.

However, is he the aggressor here, or NATO and its new plans to deploy 10,000 troops close to the Russian border? And after reading the whole transcript of where he made the statement at conference with Russian youths. In context, he never said anything too over-the-top, he was just reminding NATO that Russia isn't Libya or Iraq, in case they're carried away - and it will retaliate should any country try to attack it.

Also, what are you going to say about a former American ambassador who said Putin should either be assassinated in Kremlin, or his plane blown off the sky? Who talks about killing the leader of another country brazenly in the open like that?

There's always two sides to every story - and learn to read in context next time.

BTW, I just saw clips of former Western European soldiers (especially from France, Spain, and Germany) fighting in Eastern Ukraine with the rebels against Kiev. European people are united - but the leaders have lost their minds.

Take it easy .. No one is going push any button , this is what is called Gunboat diplomacy or in this instance "red button diplomacy" , its very allowed in international politics and it works

Who are the real threat to world peace ? Is it russia or the west who have gone to war almost on a yearly bases within the last decade. Russia did not send troops to ukraine and the americans know this. First it was the false flag operation by the kiev goverment by blowing up the malaysian airliner and blaming it on the russians that failed miserably. But the west are eager to start world war 3. Even if the russians sent troops to ukraine their doing the right thing by protecting ethnic russians in ukraine . LOL. Threatening with nuclear weapon is a sign of frustration and pretty stupid too. Let me tell you why; Having nuclear weapon doesn't mean that it should be used it's only good for threats. Its scale of destructions is off the charts and the west also have a counter attack procedure in case of a nuclear attack from their submarines and carriers off shore. Guess what that results in? Two loser countries that have to bear the brunt of radioactivity destruction for decades.

SMH... and who told these Africans (including me) that their opinion(s) matter? better go n make (y)our leaders accountable cos Russia n US can never go to war! They didn't at the height US planned Syria intervention, and they wouldn't cos of Ukraine.
