The 2014 summer transfer window ended on Monday, with Barcelona’s new recruit Luis Suarez topping the list of transfer fees at €81 million.

However, African players also had their share in the market, with Morocco international Mehdi Benatia emerging as the 15th biggest transfer of the window in a €26 million deal from Italian side Roma to Bayern Munich.

Benatia also recorded the highest fee for an African player in the summer transfer window, followed by Senegal’s Sadio Mané, who joined Premier League club Southampton from Austrian champions FC Red Bull Salzburg.
