Jarus: A better-forgotten game for the Super Eagles. A very commendable display by the Congolese.

On an evening, I expected a whitewash from the Eagles, here we go again.

Anyway, player rating:

Ejide: A bad game. No composure. Didn't look like a professional. He could have done better in the second goal. Only one good save. 3/10

Echiejile : His wing was exploited by the speedy Congolese. Poor overlapping. 3/10

Ambrose: Good goal. But fizzled out thereafter. Didn't see much of his traditional cut-and-cross. 4/10

Oboabona: Poor game. Beginning to make me ask questions whether we have not overrated him. Beaten easily by the Congolese attack. Gave away possession for the second goal 2/10

Omeruo : Well, well, poor game. Didn't do much to stop the rampaging Congolese attack. Maybe better than his defence partner 3/10

Onazi: Was livelier in the midfield than Mikel, but poor judgment that resulted in penalty. Tried in the defensive midfield, but below what we expected still 4/10

Azeez: Also a little lively in the midfield in the first half, but couldn't get grip of the midfield before he fizzled out 3/10

Mikel: On a day you would have expected this Chelsea to show his class and experience against the minnows that these Congolese are (yes, the are minnows), this guy still couldn't do anything extra-ordinary. No through pass. No initiation of attack. Even Onazi and Azeez were more visible. 2/10

Oduamadi: Anonymous in the first half. Not a threat to the Congolese defenders. Save for a through pass to Nwofor which he couldn't convert, he didn't do anything up front. 3/10

Musa: Looked the most dangerous up front in the first half. Nice cross that resulted in first goal. He should have done better as the most experienced of our attack in the first half. 5/10

Nwofor: Handed the top striking role in the first half but didn't deliver. He was like a pedestrian on the field for the most part. A through pass from Oduamadi that he should have converted was also wasted. 2/10

SUBS

Nosa: Created more chances up front than Azeez but his miss was unforgivable. 3/10

Emenike: Thrown in when Eagles needed goals desperately. Didn't score. Created chances towards the tail end though. 4/10

Salami: The Balotelli of Nigerian Premier League was also thrown on board when SE desperately needed a goal. Managed to put in consolatory goal. Not much was seen of him. 5/10

Keshi: No comment 2/10

ALL CONGOLESE PLAYERS: Great game. 9/10

LEROY: Embarrassing Nigeria since 1988: 10/10

LAST BULLET: You win some, you lose some. I'm not so embittered. In any case, SE's usual wives, Bafana Bafana, go hear wien on Wednesday

Bros, na wao......now now now u don write full everywhere. Anywhere, 10/10 for you.

Onazi should learn his role and stop being "A David Luiz" In the midfield. He wants to play DM/CM and AM all by himself. I agree he is one hell of a hard worker, but when he moves up the field he chokes Mikel and Azeez makinh them move out of place. Mikel is a better passer he should leave the cm role to him, and also allow Azeez some space, so he can move. He tends to be overly zealous a times as evident in the penalty he caused.

What do you expect from a team that was full of arrogance and lack respect for their opponent ?

I am pretty sure they will show same spirit against South africans....

Nigerians enjoy victory by chance or fluke, keshi has never impressed me. Cracks when he faces good oppositions, being saved all these while by sheer brilliance of individual players and he had been taking the glory. Now the players whose brilliance gave him a good name iddnt come to party today. What was keshi's pattern today? What wad his formation? What was his plan b, smh he needs to upgrade his tactics as we might face more humilations in the hands of SA. A 38 yrs old record broken today i hope we have not become man utd in the hands of moyes.

doctokwus: U rated oduamadi higher than obi;pls. That guy shd not evn make d U-17 team(2/10).
D problm mikel has is d wt of expectation based on his club level. He had a poor game, but he was mobile and covered in d defence in d first half(3.5/10)
Everytime Ejike mounts d goalpost,no matter d nature of match,u get d impression dat guy is being paid by those asian betting syndicates. He is so suspicious in his moves, even wen he doesn't seem to be @fault(3/10).
5/10 for ahmed musa?D only significant play he made was d freekick dat led to d 1st goal.He cudnt control a well laid pass by omeruo and his other play was all round lousy 3/10
For dat nosa igiebor, his rating is for another day.
All others average 3/10
Nice one,you get sense, your statement is 100% correct.

menike furious over Nigeria loss
Nigeria striker,
Emmanuel
Emenike showed
his furious side
immediately after
Nigeria lost 2-3 to
Congo in a 2015
Africa Cup of
Nations (Afcon)
qualifier on
Saturday.
The striker was surprisingly omitted
from the starting line-up as the Super
Eagles began their march towards
successfully defending the Afcon
crown won in exhilarating fashion in
2013.
After the final whistle at the UJ
Esuene Stadium, Calabar Emenike
ignored journalists in the mixed
zoned.
He then delivered a foul-mouthed
tirade and smashed a water bottle on
the floor as he stormed into the
changing rooms.
Most of the Nigerian players refused
to speak to the press after the game
as they trudged on with long faces to
the changing rooms.
Scorer of Nigeria’s second goal,
Gbolahan Salami however spoke very
briefly about his strike and the result.
“I feel happy and sad. I am happy I
scored but sad that we lost,” he told
supersport.com.
Nigeria coach, Stephen Keshi blamed
his players for the loss and accused
them of showboating rather than go
for the kill after taking an early lead.
“We didn't play our game. After the
goal, we started playing to the gallery
and we didn't play with aggression,”
Keshi said.
Nigeria must now dust themselves
and improve quickly ahead of their
next game against South Africa next
Wednesday.
The Super Eagles currently sit in third
place of Group A of 2015 Afcon
qualifier with only a better goals
difference ensuring they sit ahead of
bottom-placed Sudan on the
standings.

Why is everybody critizing mikel?? Onazi was the worst player in dat midfield 2day. Look at the number of foul he committed...mikel wouldnt have made that silly tackle in the box. You all jus dont see anything good in the guy. He played better than Onazi 2day, that's even visible to the blind.

Anybody saying Bafana will be a cake walk are delusional, a loss like this goes to prove if all levels of the football structure are disfunctinal i.e. nff coaches players, even less fancied opposition will win.

Even if they beat SA, I want Keshi and Obi gone, I'm looking towards 2016 for the Olympics wc qualifiers and the actual wc 2018. I leave my hope in Nacho and the future.
