Re: Are African Parents Over Hyped? ??? by Nobody: 10:21pm On Sep 09, 2014 |
Acidosis: First of all, we have to differentiate between countries which have proper reports of crimes reported and those that lack such reports. Anyway. If your thesis that shouting and beating lead to lower crime rates was right then countries such as Russia, for example, would have "low" crime rates too. 2 Likes |

100% overhyped. I would rather live under the bridge than live with an elderly African, except my dad. Can't live with my mom either. Love her but mbanu. Got no time for the analysis of how respectful one is or not. If there is one thing they've bastardized, it is respect, especially particular groups in Nigeria who use their own cultural background to demand some ridiculous pettiness from others. I've gotten into trouble because I could not understand some of these pettiness. Can't wait for them to go to 'heaven' or 'hell' and carry their ego tripping with them. Totally useless to my existence in this life. 1 Like |

carefreewannabe: Thank you jare which discipline? If discipline is a part of our culture then how come Nigerians are generally some of the most unruly people on earth. Came on a plane with Nigerians today and I was shaking my head through out. Adults who can never obey simply instructions , even cto stay on a queue becomes a problem. If African parenting is so effective why do the adult Nigerians lack discipline? Whites don't shout about discipline yet their society reflects that they end up more disciplined than us. We like to make noise about having morals and values yet our society does not reflect that! |

aderonila18: Thank you for this. The issue of discipline in the Nigerian setting is a big farce. As I grow older I realize the adults do not have any respect for the young ones. You are to keep on kissing and kissing these aged ones ass till you quench. 2 Likes |

Stillfire: Nigerians generally are very hypocritical, we love paying lip service yet when you check our society you can see clearly the discrepancies between what we preach and what we do. |
Re: Are African Parents Over Hyped? ??? by aderonila18: 12:06am On Sep 10, 2014 |
Stillfire: Most of them just use the "respect" thing to keep us in bondage. It's the same way they'll tell us we mustn't criticize out leaders or Pastors because they are your elders. Young people are beginning to see the light, people rob us blind and we are expected on prostrate after sef! A society where people cannot be corrected irrespective of their age or position will never develop. |

aderonila18: This is exactly what I was thinking when I asked this question. I just disagree that ALL white nations show discipline but that's a different topic. |
