As a prelude to declaring him incapacitated, the Taraba State Executive Council has directed the state House of Assembly to set up a medical team to ascertain the health condition of Governor Danbaba Suntai.Addressing a press conference in Jalingo, the state capital yesterday, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Musa Adamu Tende, said the council directed the assembly to set up the panel in fulfillment of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.Debunking insinuations that the executive council had declared Suntai incapacitated, Tende urged the people of the state to disregard such rumours, saying  the council has no such power.According to him, “The rumours going round after today’s executive council meeting that Suntai has been declared incapacitated by the council is not true. The council only wrote to direct the assembly to set up a medical team to ascertain his true state of health.”Suntai, who is presently receiving treatment in a London hospital, was involved in a plane crash on August 25, 2012, and had  not resumed duty as governor of the state since then.THISDAY investigations reveal that he is billed to return to the country on Sunday, though his fitness to resume duty as governor is still a subject of controversy.He was brought to Nigeria from  United States where he was being treated on August 25, 2013, and his purported letter to the assembly informing it of his assumption of office threw the state into serious political crisis.The letter, which the assembly described as forged, was rejected by the assembly, which mandated his deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, who had earlier been declared the acting governor to continue in that capacity until Suntai is fully recovered to assume office.
