Just saw this update on channels tv.
But the question is, how many people make a troop? A troop is an individual soldier. In the army though troops are organized into elements. The smallest element is a squad=8-12 soldiers. Then there is the platoon=16-50 soldiers. Followed by a company=100-300 soldiers. Batallions are next highest at 300-1000 soldiers. A Regiment is anywhere between 1000-4000 soldiers. Next comes a Brigade which is anywhere between 4000-9000 soldiers. 2-4 Brigades make up divisions that can range anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 soldiers. 3 or more divisions make up a Corps, which can have as many as 80,000 soldiers. Finally, 2 or more Corps make up an Army which has 150,000 plus soldiers.
Someone that saw these BH guys at Michika said they are like "zombies". As u kill, they keep on approaching. They've recruited many. How do we think that the extra 500 soldiers will make an impact? Pls Mr. President, can u order for the deployment of a division and see if Boko haram will not go in extinct within 24 hours?

1 and 3 divisions have joined this battle although the report says 500 troops it didn't state the type of unit deployed which i think determined their numbers.

The military is most unlikely to divulge factual and accurate operational details in response to reporters' questions seeking to quantify actual numbers of combatants sent to fight the wear on terror. A deliberate campaign of misinformation will be used by both sides in the ongoing conflict, in order to confuse the enemy at every opportunity, even if that means telling outright lies to the press, who will often publish such press releases knowing full well that they do NOT reflect the actual situation on the ground.

"Truth is the first casualty of war", as the old saying goes.

Rather than spending all our money on presidential fleet that is useless to most Nigerians, and sending soldiers to get killed by drug induced fanatics why can't we buy like 20 to 25 Apache helicopters to go to Sambisa and knock off these bastards? Just thinking. They move in convoys, easy targets for Apache.
