I tamed the leopard of Port Harcourt – Mbu

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Joseph Mbu, has
described himself as a lion, who tamed the ‘leopard of Port
Harcourt’.
Mbu, who was apparently referring to his clashes with
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of River State, when he was the
Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, stated that it
was only a lion that could tame a leopard.
Mbu, who was recently promoted AIG said this while
handing over to the new FCT Commissioner of Police,
Wilson Inalegwu, on Monday in Abuja.
He advised his successor to be firm in his dealings with
policemen in his command and avoid soiling himself.
“I advise you (CP) to carry the senior officers along in your
administration. It is only a lion that can tame a leopard. I
tamed the leopard in Port Harcourt, each time he
remembers my face, he would remember how I tamed
him,” Mbu said, drawing loud laughter from the audience.
He advised Inalegwu to discourage policemen from going
for special duties, noting that the obligation of Policemen
was to the general public and not to provide protection for
only VIPs.
He also urged the new CP not to deal with his personnel
with sentiments, stressing that he would fail if he gives
unnecessary concessions to the officers and men working
with him.
He stated that the Force needs strong leadership to
achieve results, adding that he had put the command on a
solid pedestal, noting that under him, the command
procured 5,000 special raincoats with assistance from the
FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed.
According to him, he was able to save N10m from ‘FCT
logistics’ and bought two buses to transport the rank and
file to their duty posts.
Mbu who is now in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, explained that
there was no petition against him throughout his tenure as
CP in charge of FCT, because he dealt with the men fairly.
The AIG said, “I have sworn allegiance to Nigeria and to
this Police uniform, that anyone who stops me from doing
my job, I crush him. The Police at the command needs
strong leadership, the moment you started asking your
men to bring building materials you have soiled yourself
and they will no longer respect you.”
Inalegwu in his response, promised to build on the
foundation laid by his predecessor and challenged the
officers to relate more with the community.

Mbu is a riff raff. Who tamed each other? Mbu was given a simple assignment which he failed to deliver. Remove Amaechi from office Mbu couldn't. Governor Amaechi he claimed to have tamed chased him out of Rivers state. Until his recent promotion, Mbu has no work. His only work in Abuja is to follow Wike everywhere wike goes like a boy-boy. I have seen them in two different occasions in Abuja. A whole commissioner of police. With the likes of Mbu in our police, there won't be any improvement in our police system.

Never heard or read anything more senseless, asinine and puerile from someone so undeservedly highly placed as this twerp called Matthew Mbu. This says a lot about the quality of mind of some characters who have found their way to positions of authority in this country of ours. It is also symptomatic of the uselessness, recklessness, spinelessness and helplessness of the man at whose table the buck stops: Goodluck Jonathan.

Amaechi’s Problem Is That He is A Young Boy
Overwhelmed By The Size Of The Seat He Occupies
- AIG Mbu Joseph

AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu has dismissed Gov Amaechi as an
ungrateful young boy who is overwhelmed by the size
of the seat he occupies as the governor of rivers state.
Mbu, who once served in Rivers State as a Police
Commissioner under the regime of Gov Amaechi, made
the remarks while reacting to some verbal attacks
directed at him by Governor Rotimi Amaechi when the
new Police Commissioner, Mr Bature paid him a
courtesy call. The governor had told the new CP that
Mbu nearly collapsed the economy of rivers state
during his tenure as the state Police boss. He further
accused Mbu of being an unprofessional Police officer
and a member of the PDP used to advance the course
of PDP in the state.

But dismissing Amaechi’s attacks on him as childish,
Mbu, in a statement issued by his Media Consultant,
Greg Nwadike said that Amaechi should be advised to
begin to prepare his hand over note, rather than
focusing on or discussing Mbu as he has been doing
since Mbu’s tenure as the Police boss in the state.
“Governor Amaechi, as sadistic as he was born, had
earnestly prayed against Mbu and wished him evil.
Amaechi would have done whatever it takes to ensure
that Mbu is sacked from the Police let alone promoted.
But thanks to God who rewards all efforts of mankind
as it pleases Him”, the statement said.

“While the respectable former Commissioner of Police
in Rivers state and now AIG would not wish to be seen
joining issues with a young boy who was overwhelmed
with the size of his chair suddenly started stepping on
others on the floor, it has become necessary to advise
him to go about his businesses, prepare his handover
notes to his people and stop using every fora to discuss
a man that has moved on,” said the statement. It noted
that Amaechi has declared Mbu his enemy just because
“Mbu Joseph Mbu while a Police Commissioner in
Rivers state served the Force meritoriously refusing to
be used by Governor Amaechi as a stooge to fight his
political battles which the governor then wanted. Mbu
performed his duties professionally and vehemently
resisted the temptation of going to beg for daily bread
from the governor.”

The Press Statement
The attention of Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu has been drawn
to a recent publication on the Vanguard Newspaper of
12th September 2014 where Mr. Rotimi Amaechi of
Rivers state in his usual characteristics of unguarded
ranting was reported as accusing Mbu Joseph Mbu of
being a “politician in police uniform”.
While the respectable former Commissioner of Police in
Rivers state and now AIG would not wish to be seen
joining issues with a young boy who was overwhelmed
with the size of his chair suddenly started stepping on
others on the floor, it has become necessary to advise
him to go about his businesses, prepare his handover
notes to his people and stop using every fora to discuss
a man that has moved on.

Mbu Joseph Mbu while a Police Commissioner in Rivers
state served the Force meritoriously refusing to be used
by Governor Amaechi as a stooge to fight his political
battles which the governor then wanted. Mbu
performed his duties professionally and vehemently
resisted the temptation of going to beg for daily bread
from the governor. In his almost two years in Rivers
state, he brought a lot of transformation to the police
command in that state including a total rehabilitation
of the CP Quarters and other formations in the state
without going to the governor for any assistance.
Mbu Joseph Mbu refused the governor’s plans to use
him as attack dog to fight his perceived political
enemies while doing his best to allow all political
parties a level playing ground in their activities; an
approach Governor Amaechi hated so much. Mbu could
not understand how he would be used as a tool for
fighting his own kinsmen and rather preferred a level
playing ground for all.

It was not out of mediocrity that the former Inspector-
General of Police, Mr. M.D. Abubarkar decorated Mbu
Joseph Mbu with the prestigious POLICE COURAGE
MEDAL; a rare award uncommon in the Force.
Mbu who was the former CP in Oyo and Rivers states
while in these states variously refused and rejected
constant intimidations from Chief Executives of the
states to turning the Police Force into their Area Boys.
It could be recalled that when Mbu was in Oyo state, he
carried out a controversial sack of the Alapin of Ibadan
who was disobeying court orders that declared his
throne illegal, thus breeding thugs and criminals in the
state through the creation of a parallel kingdom in that
area.

It is on record that while Nigerians, especially people
from the South-South celebrate the recent elevation of
Mbu as AIG, Governor Amaechi as sadistic as he was
born had earnestly prayed against Mbu and wished
him evil. Amaechi would have done whatever it takes
to ensure that Mbu is sacked from the Police let alone
promoted. But thanks to God who rewards all efforts of
mankind as it pleases Him.
It is high time Amaechi learnt that no amount of
criticism from him against Mbu even before junior
police officers could put a slight stain on the integrity
of the AIG, therefore should desist in discussing Mbu.
The Nigeria Police is one and would never allow greedy
ingrates, desperate and selfish politicians like Amaechi
to cause division and create bad blood within it.

Mbu's statement has indicted him and GEJ further. When Amaechi was shouting Mbu was in a special mission in Rivers state, most people called Amaechi names. Claiming that Amaechi was raising dust. But today, Mbu has confirmed that to us. Most governors have privilege to information which is not available to us the ordinary people of this country. As an adult, I have never seen or heard any commissioner of police in Nigeria do what Mbu did in Rivers state.
