This might just be men of the underworld trying to escape from the onslought of the army.I said this because that Kogi axis is known for high level arm robbery operations in recent time.So let's not rule out completely the possibility of this.

The level of sabotage in this our military is alarming, who could have leaked the information about the troops en routing that particular road!
Please our military Heads should henceforth start conveying those guys in their flying birds so as to avoid this kind of news again
We thank God for their lives,
God is your strength!

Every armed attack is now Boko Haram. Okene Lokoja is a hotspot for highway banditry and the confrontation must have been accidental. The police should step up their game.

Muslims in kogi state like ebira tribe and igala people, including some yoruba muslims are more fanatical than the hausa muslims.
They will be use to penetrate more evils. They live and know us well than the isolated hausa men and kanuri people..

I don't buy into this crappy story that the soldiers were particularly targeted because very recently that lokoja-okene road has been a haven for heavily armed robbers who operate by simply opening fire on unsuspecting vehicles. they have been doing this with impunity both night and day and the security operatives are aware yet have decided to deliberately fold their arms. same thing is happening along abuja-kaduna express way almost on a daily basis yet everyone is turning a blind eye.

Federal govt should legalize guns. Let us fight Boko Haram by ourselves. I'm sure the people of Mubi, Chibok, etc won't run away if they had their own guns

donphilopus: Boko Haram attacked a battalion of Soldiers moving from Edo to Niger in Kogi State?! Pathetic! These people should have known by now that in times like this those soldiers should been flown instead of traveling by road cos Kogi is somehow. This' exacly how they were ambushed sometimes in 2013 or so in Kogi when they were going for peacekeeping mission in Mali.
Fly them abi? Why APC and their members always take joy in politicizing everything? If they fly them, you question reason a well armed battalion of Soldiers do so.
So bad.

I saw these soldiers on Sunday afternoon around ring road benin in chartered luxurious buses about 8 of them, akunwata, ,young shall grow etc. They were in high spirits shooting into d air, brandishing daggers as they moved in convoy.

My instinct told me they were heading to north, and one of d passengers said some of the soldiers might have informed boko of the reinforcement coming, only for me to read this.

Hmmm I fear for this country.

What will the army gain by lieing about being attacked? I saw these soldiers on Sunday as they moved in convoy, some used their private vehicle. An army hilux van led the convoy of lluxurious buses and private cars, motorists have to give way for them to pass.
