For far too long the people of Ogoja and indeed Cross Riverians from around the world have searched and hope to meet with such an enigma like CHIEF PETER ABANG OJIE. A man whose personality is synonymous to Transformation in every sense of the word matching behind a legend of Transformation towards the socio-political, economic and cultural diversity of Cross River State. A man with impeccable leadership qualities which have endeared him to our amiable and quintessential Governor Senator Liyel Imoke, the ever living beacon of Transformation for Cross River State.

He breezes in as the sun rise of the 21st century visionary leadership that is required to bring about continuity in the ongoing socio economic transformation of Cross River State led by Sen. Liyel Imoke. He is a charismatic political colossus with hindsight for political and economic development towards the emancipation and empowerment of youth, Women and Children in our Society. A man who had his first experience as a Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area between 2003-2004 understands the plight and challenges of the people in the grass root.

As a political economist who understands the political dynamics of local government affairs from the onsets it wasn’t difficult for the Governor to call him onboard to steer the ship of local government affairs in Cross River State as the most efficient local Government Commissioner ever, where he carries out the oversight function of the eighteen local Government Areas including the chairmen of the respective local Government Areas. A position he has used to serve the masses and promote local Government Affairs in Cross River to the admiration of his colleagues in other States of the Federation which recently earned him a National Recognition Award from THE FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE.

Above all, CHIEF PETER ABANG OJIE holds a B.sc. in Political Science (University of Lagos), M.sc. in International Relations (University of Uyo) and currently a PHD Research student in the same field of Political Science at the same University. By virtue of his religious inclination, he is a knight of Saint John of the Catholic Church. He is a father, brother, uncle and a mentor to all within his immediate constituency and the State at large. As a Trailblazer and Transformer, he remains one and only party Chieftain that has served two straight tenures as the Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party of the State between 2004-2011 immediately after his exit from Ogoja LGA as Chairman.

As a politician of excellence and distinction he is but an asset to PDP family as well as the entire people of Cross River State. His doggedness, dedication, devotion, hindsight and unalloyed loyalty to our quintessential Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke is uncontestable. He is one party stalwart who has never decamped or defected from the PDP even in the midst of boiling tension and difficulties as “the peoples Man”. Overall, his appointment as the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs in the State is not unconnected with his wealth of knowledge and insight into the PDP politics geared towards transformation of the State, people and the cultural diversities both at the grassroots and the State level. He is an ardent believer with the philosophy that “WHAT YOU MAKE HAPPEN TO OTHERS GOD WILL MAKE HAPPEN FOR YOU” In his own words” If we stand tall it is because we stand on the back of those who came before us”. This makes him ever indebted to those whom God used to make him.

It is the peoples prayers and hope that a man dedicated as he is to following the leg work of his superiors and progenitors will be given the opportunity in the end to bring to bear his wealth of wisdom gained through following those who have distinguished themselves in the service of their fatherland come 2015.
