women; everybody seems to be an expert in
telling them how to dress, how to cover up their
body, how to act, How not to act...HOW TO BE
A WIFE MATERIAL

The other day I was having this interesting
conversation with this particularly smart girl, it's
not every day you meet a girl that smart and so
I was terribly enjoying our conversation.

Something lead to something and we started
talking of indecent dressing and how it was so
"un wife" material-ish to show off boobs.

Like a typical guy I dove into the wife material
preaching we guys are very fond of
giving..."Cover up yaself", "know how to cook"
and so on.

Mid way into the conversation she looked at me
with this piercing gaze and asked:

"What of husband material, who is a husband
material"

For a moment I hesitated..

That was when it struck me; we guys are so
good in giving wife material advice while we are
not exactly husband materials.

I mean, here I was, trying to tell a girl how to be
a wife material when I wasn't even a husband
material myself. It was more or less a case of
trying to remove dirt in the girl's eyes while I
had a log of wood in my eyes.

The girl smiled as she saw that I was getting her
point, then she moved in for the attack.

"That's the problem with you guys". She said.
"So quick to calibrate us women and tell us
what to do and what not to do, how to act right,
dress right and talk right. What happens to you
people - are you husband material enough?"

At that point her point were really driving
home.

It struck me then, It's not just for the women to
work on being wife material, we guys also have
to work on being husband material...

- How stable are you?
- Can you provide for a woman?
- Can you provide for a kid if a woman gets
pregnant for you now?
- Can you stick to a woman and not feel like
going after the next hot thing with skirts on?
- How well can you handle crisis?
- Can you handle a woman's drama, can you
bear her hysterias without snapping?
- Can you care for a woman, make her feel like
a queen?
- Can you take a woman out on a date and give
her a romantic feeling?
- Are you ambitious enough, do you protect
your own, can you face failure without giving
up.

Can you? Can you?

That day, I just sat down listening to the girl's
angle and it just hit me that if I invested more
time working on being a husband material I will
have no problem having headaches about
weather a girl is or is not a wife material.

Why?

Simple - we will always attract what we are like.
The higher our quality the higher the quality of
people we will attract.

Like my mentor will always say, if all your
friends are broke then chances are that you are
broke too.

If you end up with a woman who is not a wife
material then you were never a husband
material.

A husband material is that man who can manage a home, by home I mean wife, kids and extended family. You don't have to be the richest man on earth to do that you just have to apply a good sum of care to every party and provide the needs of your wife kids. A man who can put up with all the momentary imbalance of a woman, a man who is willing to give up his pride just to please his woman and make her happy. But trust me all these won't be possible if u tie the knot with a typical Nigerian woman who feels a man is indebted to her and her family

I don't need a provider, I can work to take care of my family. I need a man that is good in the kitchen and knows how to clean.

I am not an irrational woman and I do not cosign the bullsh1t that women are irrational.

I don't need my man to fear an imaginary 'being'. He has to be good in bed though, that is key.

Good stuff, @OP. In addition to that, it's the responsibility of both parents to teach their sons what a good "husband material" entails.

This should be backed up by their actions - lead by example. What I mean is this: if the child sees his / her parents practising what they preach, then doing so later in life should be second nature to them.
