The leaders are the bane of the problem Not absloving the followers from blame brcause they were voted in by us (we hardly have a choice anyway,,na Nigeria we deyy ; it'll surely be rigged no matter what) But then the leaders are the lawmakers with the responsibility of setting things straight but don't cause of their selfish interest and gain.. Take a look at North Korea and see how corrupt officials are treated.. |

in a democracy the people should control their leaders but to do so people need to invest money for a free investigativ press and they need to invest time to deal with te polictical problems of the country in every country in the world big complanys are trying to influnce the political decisions to there own advantage but its the job of a society to defend their democracy against those influences but that doesn't works very well in nigeria... so i would say its the lack of responsebility of the people... |

The tropics. If the weather were more temperate, civilization would have set in here. As it is, the diseases and elements make this place a hell for civilizing agents. |

Some years ago the leaders we have now were ordinary followers, they might have even been criticizing those in government then, today how are they performing? To answer your question, the citizens of Nigeria are the problem. Go to some families and see how housemaids are being treated by their small leaders, ''oga and oga madam''. 2 Likes |

People determine the kind of leaders the get so therefore the fault is with the followers.if power resides with the people then the leaders can't do anything without us.we allow impunity, corruption, and other vices in d name religion, tribalism n sectionalism.how can we turn around n blame d leaders.what de re doing is what we want and that's why we are silent (silent means consent).until we begin to change our perception, leadership will never change in Nigeria.until we recognize that we the problem, our leaders will continue to do what they re doing.until we stop been permissive, our leaders will continue to rule us(not lead) 1 Like |

I used to think that our leaders is our problem but after joining Nairaland, I now realised that our problem is not our leaders. It is we the followers. Checkout the kinds of comments some of us make on NL on daily basis particularly on political section. Both educated youths and illiterate ones. For the illiterate ones, it is pardonable because they don't know. But for d educated ones, it is unforgivable. |
