Tunji Bello To Succeed Adefulire As Lagos Deputy Governor by lekanolas: 11:00am On Oct 06, 2014
Indications have emerged that the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tunji Bello is being considered as the running mate of whoever becomes the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2015 governorship election in Lagos State.

According to sources in the party, if the argument of those bent at the emergence of a Christian Governor scales through, a male Muslim Deputy like Bello, who is see as a bridge between the outgoing administration and the incoming government becomes inevitable.

Bello’s choice is informed based on the experience he had garnered over the years having served the government since the administration of Bola Tinubu

Tunji Bello, this, Tunji Bello, that..."WETIN"?!!

Must this guy be in government ALL THE TIME? He became a Commissioner in Lagos State in 2003, under Tinubu. Before then, Bello had ingratiated himself with the Asiwaju, giving the latter advice behind the scenes of governance in Lagos and generally oiling the public relations apparatus of the Lagos State government with his “invisible hands”, while he masqueraded in daylight as the (impartial?) Chairman of THISDAY newspaper's Editorial Board.

When Fashola JUSTIFIABLY "kicked" Tunji Bello to the curb during his first term as governor and refused to re-appoint him Commissioner in 2007, Bello acted as if it was his birthright to be Commissioner, or to otherwise be in government (Maybe being in government can explain the sumptuous house he now owns in Ikoyi, among many others!) He huffed and puffed and drew on his (very, very, very, very) strong connections with Asiwaju Tinubu, who in turn pressurized Fashola to appoint Bello Commissioner at the beginning of his second term in 2011. (Incidentally, everyone knows the Fashola government made its name and was more dynamic during its first term, which unsurprisingly DID NOT feature Bello in government!) People will also recall that even before Fashola finally made him Commissioner again, Tunji Bello "cooled his heels"---where else?---IN GOVERNMENT, as head of Lagos State's outdoor advertising regulatory outfit.

Now the guy---along with his powerful mentor---is at it again. Make no mistake about it, Tinubu's ultimate ambition in Lagos is to install Tunji Bello as Governor. What threatened or threatens to torpedo that plan this time around is the clamour for a Christian Governor in Lagos during this election cycle. If not, Bello would have been a shoo-in by Tinubu for the governorship of Lagos State. Those in the know are very much aware that Bello is the "boy" in which Asiwaju is very, very, very, well-pleased. Not Ambode, by a mile!

Only both men (maybe in the privacy of some room, since rumours along that line trail Bello very strongly) can explain their closeness and affinity for each other. But the reality, and irony, is also that Tunji Bello is a nominal Muslim at best. So, he must find it a “cruel” twist of fate that his being a "Muslim" is now being used to deny him the prize he and his mentor seem to think is Bello's birthright.

Talking about mentors, the guy found it very "convenient" to have one at every stage of his professional (as a journalist) and political careers. Those who know remember how he used his perceived closeness to MKO Abiola to the hilt while he worked at Concord for close to two decades. There was the story that Bello's father assisted MKO while the latter was still "struggling"; Tunji Bello then rode that horse to the hilt while he "reigned" at Concord when the going was good for the paper.

Unfortunately, the same Bello could be "credited" with the paper's demise. Yes, those in the know won't blame Concord's sad fate just on feuding members of Abiola's family (or IBB for that matter!), but also on those, like Tunji Bello, who allowed vain personal interests (and emperor-like fondness for personal vendettas) to hasten the paper's death. Many are already aware of the existence of an e-mail that has quietly been making the rounds for a few years now, which details this and other destructive attitudes on Tunji Bello's part.

Now, Bello's formidable public relations machine (largely through The Nation newspaper and elsewhere) is in overdrive, touting the man's “hardwork”, “efficiency” and---wait for this!---”achievements”. This, about a man who has never been able to keep Lagos State flood-free during the rainy season while he has served as Commissioner of the Environment, among many other major policy failures while he has “served”.

There's, of course, still that other “little matter” about how Bello, as Editor of Daily Concord, hastened the newspaper's demise with his BAD LEADERSHIP qualities, which he obviously believes he has managed to keep under wraps and away from prying eyes by deft public relations and publicity stunts.

Once again, Tunji Bello for Deputy Governor? He doesn't even qualify to be a Class Prefect!

We should wonder no more about why and how Nigeria came to this sorry pass, filled as it were with leeches and lemmings who can't “survive” without an “eternal marriage” to government---and the unlimited, undeserved largesse it brings to so few, at the expense of so many.

I'm glad someone is finally calling out this Tunji Bello (TB) character. Better late than never. A lot of us who have taken our time to speak also have other insights into his inclination for MONUMENTAL DECEPTION. While he was at Concord in the 90s he had a reputation for engaging in trysts with a lot of women and especially married women. One of the most notorious ones then was a woman believed to be the wife of one “Bolaji” at that time. Many of us later got to know that the “Bolaji” person was a prominent official with the national football association (NFA which later became NFF).

But like every thing else associated with this Tunji Bello guy it also came with a measure of deception. Not that he didn't have the affairs---and with women---but it was also hyped to make it look like he was a super “playboy”, even though the main reason for the hype was to HIDE the fact that TB also played “the other side” in a big way. Go and watch the notorious “Omo Gay” movie to understand what I'm getting at. The “limitless escapades” with women was (or is) just a decoy to hide the guy's real preference under the sheets or behind close doors!

Those who spread the Tunji Bello as “playboy” mantra anywhere he worked (especially at the now-defunct Concord) were/are the same males he “trysts” or “trysted” with. One of them also used to have a “reputation” at Concord as a “playboy”. He is at this time a 'big guy” with the Nation newspaper and is a “Waffi” boy. Actually, if you interract with that one, he goes out of his way to regale you with tales of his “female conquests”! It's obviously a ploy to make you unsuspecting of what he REALLY loves when the doors are closed to prying eyes!! The other well-known male “tryster” with Bello is a “young”, current Commissioner in one of the Mid-West states and is also a journalism professional.

This TB character seems to have something for “Midwest phallusses”!!!!

Lagosians, beware: don't be taken in by this scandalous person's extensive propaganda and army of propagandists. That will be taking a terrible RIS K.
